(Yes, you're not seeing things LMAO)

(Y/N)'s POV

I jumped to my feet, grabbed my gun, and ran outside. Alexander ran over to me and guided me towards the back of the tent.

"They're back? Again?" My eyes were wide.

"Guess so. I don't know how, but they are." Alex replied, loading his gun.

"This is just too much. Do you think we'll-"

"I don't know, (Y/N). Just please, stay safe." He had finished loading his gun and placed his hand on my shoulder. "I love you."

"I know. Love you too, Alex."

We both ran out from behind the tent and separated. I just started shooting anyone I saw in red. I was filled with rage. I had to protect myself. And my friends. And my people. And my country.

"(Y/N)!" I heard a familiar voice call my name and I spun around, spotting John standing next to a tent.

I smiled and quickly ran over and hugged him.

"I'm so glad you're OK." I sighed, pulling away and placing my hands on his shoulders.

He gave me a kind smile.

I loved that smile.

And that's when it happened.

The searing pain through my chest.

The ringing noise in my ears.

The darkness that snuck up on me until I couldn't see anything anymore, and I fell to the ground.

John's POV

I couldn't believe they were back. I obviously knew that we weren't finished fighting, but so soon?

After I grabbed and loaded my gun, I immediately went out to search for some of my friends. I spotted Lafayette and Hercules near each other, helping each other out. I caught Laf's eye and we both gave each other a quick nod, and then I ran off to try and find Alex.

I saw him hiding next to a tent, aiming at a redcoat wrestling with an American soldier. I quietly ran over to Alex and knelt beside him, tying not to disturb him.

And then, boom.

The gun went off and the redcoat fell to the ground.

"Nice shot, Alex." I quickly praised him and he nodded a 'thank you'.

"Do you know where (Y/N) is?" I asked.

"I was with her a little bit ago. She should be somewhere near our tent." He replied, scanning the fighting soldiers like a hawk to see if anyone else needed help.

I nodded, stood up, and ran towards the tent.

I looked around until I saw her, shooting as many British soldiers as she could.

I admired her so much.

"(Y/N)!" I called her name, and she spun around. She looked confused for a second, until she saw me and ran over.

She immediately engulfed me in a warm hug and then pulled away, resting her hands on my shoulders. I smiled at her.

"I'm so glad you're OK." She sighed.

And then... My biggest fear.

The thing I had nightmares about almost every night.

A gunshot rang through the air.

Of course, many gunshots were heard.

But this one was the only one I heard loud and clear.

(Y/N)'s face immediately dropped.
