I've personally never been to Ecuador but I definitely want to go someday. Here are some things you might hear in Ecuador.

Why learn Slang?
This will give you an advantage over other tourists visiting the specific country. Slang is included in everyday conversation and is necessary if you want to speak like a native.

*Be careful, in other countries, slang means different things so it's best you don't say some of these in other countries

Chiva - a chiva is a party bus! You get on with lots of other people while blasting music and trying to dance

Chendo - chendo is the phrase for, "just kidding!"

Lámpara - used in parts like Guayaquil, this word is used like sketchy or shady

Caleta - this is slang to say "home" but literally translates to cove

Amiguero/a - meaning that you're easy to make friends with and very amiable

Porfis - a cute word in place of por favor (please)

Simón- means "yeah man!"

¡De ley! - means "absolutely!"

¡Que bestia! - this phrase is used like "how crazy/wild!"

Canguil - slang word for popcorn

Pelado/a - novio/a is used in other countries as boy/girlfriend but in Ecuador, they use pelado/a

Pelucón - word for a wealthy person
