-muy is used before adverbs or adjectives
(adjective) El teléfono es muy moderno. The telephone is very modern.
(adverb) Jorge llegó a la reunión muy tarde. Jorge arrived at the meeting very late.
Mucho
-mucho can be an adjective, adverb or pronoun
(adjective) Tengo mucho dinero. I have a lot of money.
(adverb) Te quiero mucho. I love you a lot.
(pronoun) No necesito más comida, tengo mucho en mi plato. I don't need more food, I have a lot on my plate.
