"The Gospel according to Mark is in the New Testament," sabi ni Reign.
Aba, alam niya ang bagay na 'yun? May pagka-relihiyoso rin pala ang babaeng ito.
"Tama. Actually, kinunsulta ko na ang kaibigan kong Katoliko ngunit maging siya ay nahihirapan na pagkonektahin ang case at ang verse. That's why we should consult Reverend Samuel about this."
Kaagad kaming nagtungo sa sasakyan ko para pumunta sa opisina ni Reverend. Umabot lang naman ng limang minuto ang biyahe dahil nasa malapit lang ang kinaroroonan ng opisina.
Pinapasok kami ng isang katiwala sa loob. Hinihintay na lang namin ang pagdating ni Reverend Samuel. His office was like a library dahil sa dami ng libro dito.
"Pasensya na kung medyo natagalan ako," saad ng kararating lamang na si Padre Samuel. "Ano ang maipaglilingkod ko sa inyo?"
"Reverend, didiretsuhin ko na kayo. Kailangan namin ng tulong mo para sa isang bible passage. Nag-iwan ng clue ang aming CI bago siya pinatay ng hindi pa nakikilalang hitman," pagpapaliwanag ni Detective Javier bago ipinakita ang sulat sa pari.
"Sa tingin namin ay konektado ang mensaheng iyan sa kung paano papatayin ng hitman ang witness namin. The CI was Catholic so we figured he knew well the Bible," pagpapatuloy niya.
Hinanap naman ni Reverend sa shelf ang kanyang bibliya. Nang makuha na niya, binuklat niya ito at hinanap ang passage.
"Be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand."
"It's like a puzzle. We can't figure it out. Do you have an idea on how the killer would kill the witness based from the passage?" tanong ko sa minister.
Nagpatuloy pa sa pagbabasa si Reverend Samuel bago niya sinagot ang tanong ko, "This section is one of the Gospels-- Jesus said that fake christ and fake prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders. But He warned us that we should not be deceived for those will only lead us to nothing. He reminds us to stay awake for the Son of Man will come with great power and glory."
"We should be on our guard against every deception, and temptation, and to make use of all means for our perseverance. It relates to the destruction of the temple, city, and nation of the Jews; the signs that would go before it, as the disciples had desired; the miseries and calamities that would attend it, and the danger they would be exposed to through false christs, and false prophets; and therefore would be inexcusable, if they did not observe the caution He now gave them: and moreover, when all these should be accomplished, they would remember that He had told them of them beforehand," dagdag pa niya.
"So, it was all a warning. Then how's that? I can't get it. How would the killer execute his plans?" naguguluhang tanong ni Reign.
Maging ako ay naguguluhan na rin. I have this feeling that the bible passage had nothing to do with the case at hand.
"So far, wala pa akong maisip na koneksyon ng passage sa mangyayaring pagpatay. But I have to say I am fascinated with the idea. It's like the Da Vinci Code," sagot ni Reverend.
Fascinated? Seriously?
"The Da Vinci code is a book about secret codes and hidden messages," saad ni Reign. Akala ko ba hindi siya interesado sa codes?
"Yes, as I was saying, there might be some sort of a secret code in this verse," the Reverend added.
"We'll try that, Reverend Samuel," sabi ni Detective Javier.
