Ellie:

I look back to Xander who has also pulled his gun.

"Let her go, and i'll drop the gun." Xander speaks up

"You know i can't do that kid." he smirks "That's the prize right here" he waves the gun in my face

"We can talk about this alright." he puts his gun down and raises his hands. "Now just let her go" he shouts

"You know what? I think this trip would be a success if i killed the Rutherford heir" he raised the gun to Xander "Go" he shews me.

I run up the stairs to get Mel when i see her at the top of the stairs "Sissy, why are you so loud?" she yells down to the bottom.

I quickly notice that he has turned to walk towards the steps.

"Well, now i have two great opportunities." he points the gun up the stairs at Melody and i quickly block her "What's the negotiation now Rutherford?" he laughs

"No no no. Listen. You can wave that gun in my face all you want, but she is eight years old and you will not-" Xander cuts me off

"Lizzie, stop. I got it handled"

"Oh do you now?" the guy asks

"Leave them out of this." he grunts

"No. Now you see, it was different when it was just her, but now, there's the two Manixa girls" he smiles "And i can't pass that up"

I look over to Xander and he mouths 'go' and i grab Melody and run straight for my dad's room. I hear gunshots ring out through my house and Melody is scream crying all the way to the safe room.

We get there, still hearing the faint ring of gunshots when i shut the door.

"Mel, i need you to be brave right now ok? Please stop crying. Daddy will be here soon alright." i hug her and right after i hear my phone buzz in my pocket.

"Hello?"

"Hey baby. I'm on my way right now. I'm about five minutes out. I'm so sorry baby. Are you and Mel ok?" my dad asks

"Yeah we're fine but i'm really scared." i stammer

"I'm so so sorry baby. I know, i can't imagine. I'll be home soon. I love you"

"I love you too daddy" i bite my tongue to hold back my tears to be strong for Melody.

I heard the front door close, signaling my dad was home so i put Mel in my room with my phone and ran down the stairs to find my dad.

I wrap my arms around his torso and close my eyes.

I pull back after about two minutes and start to talk to him. 

"Its all my fault. I'm sorry, I-" i notice the limp body i recognized as the man from before "Oh my god." i gasp and i cover my mouth with my hand, biting back tears. I turn away and i find Xander's eyes.
"Oh my god. You did that?" i am disgusted

"Elle, i didn't mean for you to see" my dad speaks

"I'm not talking to you." i shout with tears running down my left cheek.

"Lizzie, you have to understand-" he tries

"No, actually i don't." i walk towards him.

"It's a gang Lizzie, what did you think was going on tonight?" Alex tried to explain.

"I couldn't-" i let a tear fall. "I can't believe you could ever do that to someone. That's a human being." i scream right back

"Come on Liz, you're over reacting. These 'human beings' tried to kill you and Mel" he rebutted.

"He had a family and people who loved him" I shook my head and frowned. "You're a monster. If i ever see you again in this house, near my sister, you're over" i start to walk away

"Ellie-" Alina tries

"Don't." i run up the stairs to my room.

Xander:

I screwed up. She was never supposed to see something like that and my dad is going to kill me for letting it happen.

I walk down the dim lit hallway and turn into my dad's office. "Xander, sit" he says gesturing to the seat adjacent to him.

"Listen, i tried to clean it up before she came down but she just showed up out of nowhere and-"

"You're not in trouble son. Actually the direct opposite, i wanted to thank you for following through with your order to keep her safe. To my knowledge, there wasn't a scratch on her head." he folds his hands over a file. "You did such a good job that me and Henley talked it over and we would like you to be her personal attendee" he clears his throat

"Wait, did Mr. Manixa tell you anything about what was said tonight?" i ask

"Of course, In full detail actually." he corrected himself "I believe her exact words were 'You're a monster.'" he quotes her

"Yeah so you seriously think this is the best idea?" i genuinely wonder

"We wouldn't be assigning it to you if we didn't think it was solid." he says "Henley is a very powerful man, Xander. He is willing to pay high dollar for his daughters' safety and if nothing else, it seems you have fun with the girl."

"What makes you say that? She hates me." i defend

"Now. She hates you now, but when we looked back in the footage, it didn't seem quite that way." he tells me "This would be an easy job. You be her personal 'bodyguard', if you will, but she cannot know that's your job. Henley was very clear that his daughter is not fond of being 'protected', which is rich coming from the daughter of the most wanted gang in New York." he chuckled "So, are you in?" he asks me

"Yeah, no biggie. I'll just try to get the girl that hates my guts to like me again and pretend to want to hang out with her every single day of the week without her getting suspicious. Seems easy enough." i sarcastically say as i stand up

"You're a smart boy, figure it out. I'm trusting you." he shadows me and with that i exit.

What had my father gotten me into?

A/N: ouuuu. spicy right? alright, wanna wish everyone a happy thanksgiving. I won't be publishing a chapter tomorrow, or will i? Most likely not but you never know or i never know how i'm feeling.
