We got our food and they lead me over to a table in the middle of the dining hall. My plate wasn't very full- I'm still working on recovering my eating habits. Slowly but surely, right?
As soon as we sat down, the others looked a bit disappointed. "Still no Thad?" one of them asked.
Jeff shook his head. "This is Kurt, the new transfer student."
I waved slightly. "Hi."
A tall boy frowned. "I'm worried about him. He hasn't spoken since, what, Thanksgiving break?"
I looked over at Nick. "Yeah, what's the long story?"
Nick sighed. "He left for Thanksgiving break, completely normal. But when he came back... well, he didn't say anything. He flinches at loud noises. I don't think he's eaten. He doesn't really move from that chair except for classes. He makes sure that nobody is ever in his blindspot. We're all just really worried."
My eyes widened. That sounded really familiar...
"I'm going to be right back."
