 Sonnet XVII: Gold-Leaf Words

Blank-verse

©11-DEC-18, Olan L. Smith

I read your words, a place beyond this world

Sometimes I cry, and others bring a smile.

Somewhere you live right now, you know the dead

The realm of lost and void and icy vines

Of earth. So, rest this time around. The breath

They say is hardest thing to stop; recall,

Evoke my face! You float above my head.

I type these words upon the death of them

Who touched my life. This saga tells your tale,

Report to life not death; do read these words.

Your verse will find another soul to move.

In ways of faithfulness your heart did pause,

I'm moved to speak your thoughts of days of old...

Will shine in memories carved in golden leaf.
