Chapter Eight

They stood in darkness, an ominous feeling drenched her from head to toe as fear arose, what just happened? She looked up to him, expecting him to know what happened and why she couldn't help but feel her energy slightly seeping away. 

"We've been eaten." 

Her heart nearly stopped, eaten?

What was that supposed to mean!? 

"We've been eaten? By what?" 

Suddenly the ground beneath them began to tilt and shake and a pair of large while balls of white appeared staring at them, she subconsciously hid her body behind the older boy as she felt the uncomfortable stare of the creature. She couldn't help but feel highly disgusted, Ling felt this also and tried to hide her from the view of the creature. 

"Why are you here?" The loud vile rotting voice asked the girl who was hiding behind the older boy. Earle felt shivers down her spine, as she tried to hide even more. Ling was obviously confused as to why it would ask that question. 

"Are you trying to play tricks daemon!? were you not the one that ate us!?" 

The daemon turned his attention to the boy that had to audacity to challenge him in its territory, "You're an interesting human" it said with the same unbearable voice and Ling couldn't help but feel the overpowering pressure of such a high-level daemon. 

"This is bad.." ling said to Earle behind him, "We were swallowed by such a high-level daemon, more than likely the entire island had been swallowed long before our crew had arrived and it had just been lying  in wait for more prey."

There was no hope for help, and they couldn't defeat this daemon even the genius Ling had never encountered such a daemon s they typically only roam in the underworld or in uninhabited areas so why was it here? This emergency required him to use that, his hand slowly retreated to his pockets, the daemon noticed this and a set of shiny white terrifying teeth appeared in the darkness to accompany the pair of glowing eyes. 

"Do you actually attempt to use such a weak crucifix to exorcise me? Even when you are not yet ordained?"

Ling paid no attention to him, instead, he glared at the daemon and started to mumble. 

" Το ευαγγέλιο του Ιωάννη, Στην αρχή ήταν ο Λόγος και ο Λόγος ήταν με τον Θεό και ο Λόγος ήταν ο Θεός. Ήταν με τον Θεό στην αρχή. Μέσω του έγιναν όλα τα πράγματα. χωρίς αυτόν δεν έγινε τίποτα που έχει γίνει. Σε αυτόν ήταν ζωή, και αυτή η ζωή ήταν το φως όλης της ανθρωπότητας..."  

"HAHAHA!" It let out a burst of booming laughter and came dangerously close to them, "You audacious human, did  you really think that you would affect me in any way just by reciting that?" 

With a gust of wind Ling's body was picked up roughly and he dropped the crucifix, Earle help back a scream as she stared at the weak boy being picked up, she quickly grabbed the crucifix on the floor and pointed it to the daemon. She had no idea how to use it or what it was supposed to do, her fear was practically leaking from her body and the daemon sensed it. 

Without batting an eye she was flung further back like a rag doll and her knees were suspiciously weak, she could hardly even stand. She stretched out her hand to grab the crucifix even if it became a useless item in her hands. 

"You stupid humans, even I know only an ordained can stand a chance of even making me feel the slightest bit of discomfort. So tell me, who are you to challenge me? Especially someone like you girl." 

Ling's eyes widened, Earle was a girl? 

Earle grit her teeth, why was this happening? 

inequivalent exchange.

Was such a thing not a power given to her? She clenched her fists. 

"Now just die and become nutrients for me!"

No!
