You and Yunho had a strange friendship. Well, maybe not strange but it was different. More of the brotherly-sisterly type relationship that was often mistaken for a romantic relationship. You didn't care what others thought, though. You were proud of yours and Yunho's friendship. It was strong and it was probably better than anyone else's.
You could joke around each other, you could make fun of each other, you cared for each other and you could even sit down and have a serious talk if necessary. That rarely happened, however. If you were feeling upset? You'd go to Yunho. Want someone to annoy? You'd go to Yunho. Want someone to vent to? To Yunho you'd go.
Yunho acted like your older brother all the time. Sometimes he'd make fun of you but other times he'd scold you for doing something you shouldn't have done. Not only that, he was overprotective and caring towards you. Affectionate, too.
Well, more like you were the affectionate one. Standing on your tip toes and back hugging him, hitting him playfully when you were hysterically laughing or hugging him whenever you felt like it. Yunho always followed through though, returning your hugs and what not.
Yunho's room mate, San, was out for the evening and wouldn't be home until the next morning so Yunho offered for you to stay the night. He'd sleep in San's bed and you'd sleep in his. You agreed to it as you didn't see Yunho as much as you used to and were worried about your friendship breaking down slowly. You wanted to spend as much time as possible with him.
You went around to their dorms quite late, roughly around 6 PM. You had just caught San before he went, greeting him and straight after saying goodbye to him. San was also a good friend of yours, not as close as Yunho, but he was close to you and was the type of friend anybody would want.
Everybody else in the dorm greeted you, happy to see you after a long period of time. Honestly, they were all close friends of yours. Not just San and Yunho.
The evening went by quickly due to the amount of fun you and the boys had, and it soon being 2 AM and you were all still awake and not tired even the slightest. All of the other boys were however, so you and Yunho were the only ones left awake. Yunho decided it was best to go to bed so that you'd be well rested, and by the time your head hit the pillow, you were fast asleep. You didn't even realise how tired you actually were.
Despite how tired you were, you shot awake upon something making you jump. A nightmare had woken you up and you felt strange. You felt scared and unsettled, and the worst part was, you didn't even remember what it was about. You knew well enough that it was bad enough to make you wake up and feel a bit of fear.
You felt hot and sweaty, not to mention the fast pace of your beating heart. You were shaking just a small amount and didn't want to go back to sleep at all. You'd rather stay awake for the rest of the night. You got out of Yunho's bed, making your way to get a glass of water and to calm yourself down, careful not to wake Yunho.
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, you wiped your face down with a towel and some water. Before doing so, you noticed your forehead shining ever so slightly. What could have spooked you so much to make this happen? You were beyond terrified.
All of a sudden, the urge to start crying came over you. You were the only one awake, it was 4 AM and nobody would be awake for a long time. You let out a shaky breath followed by a single tear drop, then starting to sniffle quietly to yourself.
You felt you were overreacting because of the nightmare, however you couldn't control the fear you felt. You only wished to had remembered what it was about yet you didn't and that annoyed you. It made you think you were overreacting even more than you originally did.
Making you jump out of your skin once again, somebody knocked the bathroom door. It was a soft, quiet, barely audible knock yet was still enough to make you jump. Quickly wiping your tears away, you opened the door and saw Yunho. He looked like he'd had the longest sleep ever and still looked tired.
Fortunately, the darkness of the room hid your red stained cheeks and shiny forehead making Yunho unable to tell something was wrong.
"Are you okay?" he asked, concern filling his sweet voice and covering up a little bit of the sleepiness.
"Yeah," you said quietly, yet it came out in a sadder way than you wanted to. Upon the sound of your voice, Yunho knew you were lying. He was your best friend, he knew when something wrong and even more so when you were lying.
Yunho sighed, letting you know that he knew about your lie. It was the sigh that spoke 'I know you're lying' without any words actually being said.
"I had a nightmare. It's stupid," you told him honestly, only now realising how dramatic you were being. You felt slightly embarrassed to admit that you had a nightmare. Sure, everybody had them yet they affected some more than others.
"It's not stupid," Yunho replied softly, him feeling relieved it was nothing more than a nightmare bothering you. He thought something terrible had happened at first. He was still worried about you of course, he just wasn't expecting you to say a nightmare had you up at 4 AM. " I'll get you some water then you can come back to bed. You've barely slept," he said, resting a hand on your shoulder and leading you out of the bathroom.
You followed him to the kitchen and waited for him to pour you a glass of water. He handed it to you and you drank it, setting down the glass and thanking Yunho.
"Better now?" he asked with a warm smile. You nodded and smiled, walking towards him and wrapping your arms around his waist. Yunho responded to your warm hug, wrapping his arms around you and stroking your hair comfortingly. After remaining there for a few seconds, you pulled away and you both made your way back to Yunho's room.
"Can you sleep by me?" you shyly asked Yunho, still not wanting to go back to sleep after your nightmare. Yunho responded with a small laugh, smiling at you cutely.
"Sure," he agreed, taking a place next to you in his bed. You relaxed comfortably, closing your eyes and letting yourself fall asleep with Yunho's warmth around you.
Things like that were the reason yours and Yunho's friendship was often mistaken for a relationship. But the thing is, it wasn't a relationship and never would be. You were just simply two best friends who were extremely close to one another, and that's why you cherished your friendship more than anything.
