Everybody had a best friend, right? Your best friend was a tall, handsome blonde haired boy called Seonghwa. Not only was Seonghwa your best friend, he was also your biggest crush. Whenever you were around him, butterflies would form in your stomach and sometimes you'd get all shy.
The problem was, you saw him near enough every day so those butterflies were usually there. Every time he would hug you, you'd just want to melt in his arms and never leave him. You were at the point where you were fed up of those butterflies and feelings. You were fed up of pretending you didn't have the hugest crush on him because you really did. Instead of pretending for any longer, you decided to confess to him.
You sat at the edge of a pier, swinging your legs back and forth with the sun slowly setting in the distance. You stared at the water and the calm waves, feeling the soft breeze brush past you. Looking at the calming scenery definitely made you less nervous when waiting for Seonghwa.
You heard footsteps behind you, gradually getting louder as they were getting closer to you. You turned your head, smiling at Seonghwa as he took a seat next to you. There was no greeting from Seonghwa and there was no greeting from you, you both just sat quietly while looking over the edge of the pier.
By now, the sky had changed a dark shade of orange and blue and the sun was just about peaking out and your nerves had completely vanished after Seonghwa's arrival.
"You said you wanted to talk to me. Is everything okay?" Seonghwa asked, breaking the comfortable silence you'd been sitting in.
"Yeah, but I need to tell you something," you said slowly and quietly, not daring to look him in the eye; your eyes remained fixated on the sun and the ocean.
"Me, too actually," he responded just as quiet. "You can go first," he encouraged, turning his head in your direction.
You took a deep, quiet breath and relaxed. "I really like you," you said directly, feeling an entire weight being lifted off your shoulder upon your confession. However, there was some left there while you waited for his response.
Seonghwa responded to your confession with a small chuckle and you finally looked him in the eye, confused.
"That's exactly what I was going to say," he said with a smile, shyly looking down back at the sea. "I really like you, too."

Six months had passed since your confession and things were great between you and Seonghwa. It was the exact date that you had confessed on exactly six months ago and Seonghwa insisted you do something special.
It was now winter and it had snowed so Seonghwa suggested ice skating. You agreed but Seonghwa wanted to go to a frozen over lake. Once you got there, you slipped on some ice skates and stepped onto the ice, instantly clinging onto his shoulders to stop you from falling over.
He laughed lightly at you, holding onto your arm and helping you gain your balance. You eventually got the hang of it, slowly skating around the lake with a wide smile on your face. After a few minutes of skating around, trying to stay on your two feet, Seonghwa called you over to him.
He took your hand in his and you both slowly skated around together, eventually stopping in the middle of the lake. You both stood in silence, getting lost in each other's eyes until Seonghwa pulled something out of his pocket.
He lifted you hands up, removing one of your gloves and opening a small box with a ring in it. You looked at him, confused, as he held your hand close to him.
"It's a little early for marriage so I got a promise ring instead," he began, slipping the ring on your finger and it fitted perfectly. "I promise that one day, we'll get married. I promise that I'll remain faithful to you and I promise to always be your best friend," he said with a small smile on his face, his eyes not leaving yours.
Without hesitation, you wrapped your arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around you, too. You were beyond happy and your grip around each other only grew tighter.
