"She calls Meliorn in and arrests him," Isabelle told us. "Then acts like it's all our of her hands." I was standing close to the Lightwood siblings, listened to her as she ranted. Alec was landing blows onto the punching bag in front of him, probably also releasing frustration. When he went harder, Izzy's face softened. "You're gonna hurt yourself." And he did just that as he elbowed the bag and hissed in pain, holding his arm.

"I'm fine." He exclaimed. "Izzy, it was the Clave that gave the order, not Lydia." He told his sister, taking a break from beating the bag.

"Are you sure about that?" Her eyebrows raised and I still stood her, arms crossed and trying to think of both sides before defending someone.

I sighed, "You both have a fair point, we still don't know whose side Lydia is really on but I'm trying to be optimistic. It's hard, though, when she treats us like the enemy." Isabelle nodded at my words to her older brother before we were interrupted.

"Hey, you alright?" Jace stepped up the stairs and asked Alec. He looked at his parabatai with concern.

"I'm fine." He spoke softly, looking away from the blond, obviously tired of people asking the question, which is why I hadn't.

"I just spoke to Robert and Maryse, they're being sent back to Idris." He glanced at both Lightwood siblings before Izzy spoke first. My eyes widened.

"What?"

"Yeah."

Isabelle looked at her brother with anger. "Another order from Lydia?" Clearly, Jace had no idea who that was.

"Who's Lydia?"

I stepped forward, arms still crossed, "She's an envoy from the Clave and she's in charge of the Institute."

"She's what?" His eyes squinted as he questioned my statement. I nodded.

Alec sighed again. "Temporarily." He still spoke softly.

"And now," Izzy started, "She's convinced the Clave that mom and dad aren't doing their job?" Isabelle had a lot of anger towards the envoy and I couldn't exactly blame her.

"Maybe they aren't." Alec snapped, looking at everyone. "The Institute was under their control when the forsaken got in."

"What are you talking about?" Everyone in the room seemed to not realize something that added up.

"Mom and dad were members of the Circle." And there it was. My eyes widened and I took a step back, at a loss of words and a loss of breath. I couldn't focus on their words until I regained control over my heart rate and breath.

"You're questioning their loyalty?" Izzy asked her brother incredulously.

"Valentine is back." Jace crossed his arms. "The Circle is rising. They're under suspicion." Even with the family drama, Alec bled leadership and it just made him more attractive in my eyes.
