Abyss

3 0 1

You could stand

At the edge

Looking down,

                              down,

                                           down.

The air and grass

Leaves that blow past

All surround you

But you feel emptier than

The abyss in front of you

Just past the cliff edge

You've stood there all your life

Sometimes dancing, arms outstretched,

Sometimes still, mind at rest

Or in turmoil

But often ignoring

The tug toward the void

Straying as far away from the pit

As your soul would allow

But you watch

And wait

For the time when you will jump

Scared to because you could fall

Or you could soar

You've reached the end of published parts.
