Description:

Ao is a wrathful, ravenous former god trapped in a human body and sentenced to roam the Inner Kingdom for all eternity. Eternity is rather dull, until she meets a green eyed Prince and his friends.

The Prince offers her a deal; serve him and live a life of delicious luxury in return. Sounds like a good offer right? But with the Prince's offer comes danger, deceit, and enough almond pudding to drown a dragon. Oh well, at least eternity isn't dull anymore.

This book is amazing! One of the most well written Chinese setting novels I've read. It's probably the closest you'll get to one of those traditionally published and edited English novels you find at bookstores. It doesn't try to imitate the style of the usual Xianxia and Wuxia novels, having much more vivid detail, so there is a new feeling and experience when reading this style.

Ao is different from every other novel's MC that I've recommended so far. First off, she's not a teenager, so that puts things in a bit of a different perspective. She's a thousand-year-old god trapped in an adult body, but she's far from being wise or mature. She doesn't lack the knowingness or awareness of an adult, but she's still sly, mischievous, and rebellious like someone much younger.

The plotline and world building of this are also different but in a very rich way. It's in a world with magic and gods from each culture (so the Chinese characters might have their own kind of magic and the Japanese from their own myths too). It's not the usual cultivation kind of magic so it's more exciting since you don't really know what to expect. I also like reading the detailed description of the setting and places, as it better puts you in the atmosphere of the story itself; sometimes the author posts beautiful photography along with the text to better help you envision it, which doesn't even spoil your imagination.

I still don't know who the male lead is, but it's alright because there are many great candidates, and you can really just ship Ao with any of them. And in the case there is no male lead (you never know since this story is very different from all xianxia novels), that's fine too because the plot is already progressing greatly as it is. But whenever the author reaches a milestone, she lets the readers choose a special extra chapter for her to write, so we can always just request something specific for that extra to fulfill our ships if they don't end up becoming canon.

The only thing you might want to watch out for is the updates. Though they are consistent at two or three times a month, that might seem very little to some since some other novels you read might update every day or every week. Not to worry. Even though it takes longer to update, whenever the author does release the chapter, it's usually five or six times more in length than other novels that do update every day. The wait is extra but at least you get more at each update.

The author is a great and awesome person, and it's fun talking to her in the comments. Definitely add this book to your library. The more readers for this book, the quicker the milestones will be reached, and the more extra chapters we'll get, maybe even more frequent updates.
