It was late by the time Kandy returned from his bakery. He had a small smile on his face as he waited for the elevator to arrive.

"For god's sake, stop smiling for once." he heard a really familiar voice mutter, it couldn't be.... He thought.

Kandy turns around to confirm the source of the voice and his eyes widens a fraction as he sees Valerie sitting on a sofa near a waiting area. He almost cussed out loud at the surprise visit. There were hell lot of questions running through his head but all were consumed or forgotten by the sight of her.

Kandy opens his mouth and closes it, his head swimming in confusion. His eyes move towards her bags and he furrows his brows in question.

"Mi-"

"Not a word." She says while pinning him with a hard glare. She stands up from her seat and takes her bags before moving towards the elevator, which arrives a second later.

Kandy stands there with his mouth agape.

"Mr. Karter, I don't have all night to stand inside the damn elevator, move!" she orders, she was already pissed at the fact that she had to wait for 2 hours.

Kandy, snapping out of his thoughts, moves inside the elevator while his eyes still on Valerie who had pressed his floor and was waiting for it to arrive. She was gazing forward, too embarrassed to admit that she had ran away from her house and was seeking shelter in a place where she had sworn would never stay again. She wanted to curse out loud and she really needed to hit the gym.

Valerie could feel Kandy's gaze on her, she had never felt this low before. Hell, she even had no idea what the hell she was doing here. But when she realised she had no one, Kandy's picture popped out of nowhere and she didn't know what to think of that.

The door of the elevator opens and Valerie moves forward while pulling out her bags along with her, Kandy tries to grab hold of her bag but she stops him by giving him a murderous glare to which he raises both his hands in surrender.

Kandy shakes his head, amusedly, but then his eyes moves towards her injured shoulder and he couldn't help but feel guiltiness taking over.

There was only silence when they entered in his apartment, both quiet and not a single sound could be heard. Kandy switches on the lights and Valerie moves inside to place her bags at the corner of the room. She then proceeds to move into the kitchen and grabs herself a beer from the fridge.

Kandy couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"Miss Donovan, may I know why are you here?" Kandy asks, as politely as ever. He was now standing at the kitchen door with his arms fold to his chest.

Valerie took a swing of the beer and meets his eyes, she looks hard into them and states, "We're gonna work together Mr. Karter and our plan is confidential. I don't like tardiness and I can't have you spoiling my plan by reaching late or cancelling on our accord. I want everything up to the point and I will make sure it goes just that way. I'm here to train you on some defensive skills so you'd at least be ready when shit goes down. I will tell you everything you need to know about the plan but I won't give my reasons, don't ever try to question me on that -"

Valerie blabbered on and on with her hard glare and steady physique but in that exact moment, Kandy was hypnotized. Never in his life he had encountered such a hot headed woman. She was always up to the mark and she never talks bullshit. She's always cold and angry which makes Kandy realise how much sorrow and pain must have been hidden inside of her. People tend to show less emotions when the insides are chaotic and Valerie was just that. But at the same time, she was full of confidence and dominance. She liked to lead and had skills that could literally put the enemies to the ground. She was everything he'd never thought he would meet.
