39 - Grace

"This is an amazing room!" The awestruck filled voice of Caden reaches my ears and I couldn't help but chuckle at his pup like wonder. Liam and I sat at a desk inside the hidden Library letting my mate run around like a pup in a candy store to his heart's content.

Because of how much we had gone through last night, Caden had let me and Liam sleep in doing work in the office inside our chambers. After a quick lunch we made sure no one was following us and used the secret stair way to head into the Portrait hall leading us to where we were now.

"So what's with the old books and when can I read the ones left be Lissana the Silver?" He finally asks, turning a seriouse look towards Liam and I.

"Only Grace can take out the books by Queen Lissana. But these books here recount all the royal and their history. The wars with the vampires and fairy realms as well as the account of The Claw and The Protectors." Liam aswers as I stand and head to the painting.

The moon shimmered briefly and I wondered if a witch or fairy had cast a spell to protect this landscape. It was something to consider if I ever had to meet the Fairy Queen.

With a gentle press on the full moon, the painting that held the valuable books gave way and I gently lift the old tombs before placing them on the table.

"Lissana the silver mentions many things in these books. One being that the run should have never existed. It was caused by the greed of the first king wanting the most beautiful she wolf in the pack. Because of this he used the Moon Godess' forest where The Run is held to capture her." I carefully open the first book to the depiction of the first ever event that had later been named The Run. Portraits of the matched couples were shown as I slowly read out the events that transpired.

As the legend stated the shewolves who could bear a pup were rounded up and drugged. They were all mated by the end of the first Run. But there was a new truth no one knew till Liam and I had found the book.

"Caden do you know how The Claw was created?" I ask as I flip a new book open, holding it out of view.

"Originally the legend said that they were created to stop unfaithful mates from leaving the ones who captured them in the run." Caden answers and I sigh, placing the open book in front of him.

"The Claw was created to stop the prophecy that the Godess had handed down to the first wolves created. Originally there were two shewolves and two males. An alpha pair and a beta pair. What started the first chaotic civil war in the were wolf community was the death of the true alpha female. This was caused by the Alpha King and his hidden soldiers, The Claw. The beta pair had yet to mate and fulfill the prophecy and when The Run was created the beta male had fallen sick, leading to the beta female, Lissana the Silver, to be mated to the King. What no one knew was that the Alpha pair had already had a child. You are from the Bloodline of the Alpha pair Caden." Liam explains the history written in the book, a from expression on his face as he runs his hands through his hair.

"But the thing is there was something special about the beta pair. The male had golden fur and hair while the female had silver hair and fur." I continue on, my hand taking Caden's with a small smile. His brows furrowed as he started thinking.

"You already told me that we were the reincarnated pair of the first wolves, but are we the beta pair?" He asks me, his free hand running through my silver hair. When I read the passage that was placed in this book I had come to the same conclusion, a sad smile on my lips as I turn to flip through the book and landing on a portrait of Lissana the Silver and Camden the Golden, pointing out the simmilarities to Caden.

"When the first King was killed in the fangs and fur war Lissana did end up mating with Camden, her true mate. But before the pup she had could be born The Claw killed her." I gave a sad smile as I place the hand I held on my still flatt stomach, watching the understanding flash through his eyes as Caden pulls me closer.

"Wolves will have a true soul mate one day. But that can only happen if our baby is born. The Godess gave Lissana a prophecy stating that the only ones with gold and silver will break the curse the black hearted created. Thats us Caden; we have to break it to save our pup and our race."
