Divergent: Uriah and Marlene

Chapter 3 (Marlene)

Recap:

"Don't know." I say, frowning. Now since Will brought it up, all I can think about is Uriah. His gorgeous brown eyes and muscular body. Just thinking about him makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. A knock comes from the door.

"I'll get it," I say, running up to the door excitedly hoping it's Uriah. I open the door and sure enough it's him. Only one thing is wrong. He's got another girl with him.

"H-hey," I stutter. The thought of Uriah being with another girl makes me feel jealous. I was finally beginning to think that he liked me. Now I feel like a complete idiot. Of course he doesn't like me. We're just friends. That's how it is and that's how it always will be.

The girl is actually really gorgeous. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Of course, he has to pick up a blonde with blue eyes. Ugh. "Hi." She smiles. Okay, maybe she's not that bad after all.

Uriah looks at me and smirks. Maybe he's trying to make me jealous. "This is Caroline," he says. I just nod and they both walk in the room.

"Hey little bro," Zeke says and pats Uriah on the back. Uriah punches Zeke in the solider. "Alright you two," Shauna says. Zeke smirks and Uriah rolls his eyes.

"Who'd ya pick up here?" Zeke questions. He looks at Caroline. Surprisingly, Caroline speaks up.

"I'm Caroline," she says. "I'm new here. Uriah offered to show me around."

Shauna lifts an eyebrow. "Where are you from?"

"I chose Erudite at my choosing ceremony but they decided that it'd be better if I was here in Dauntless," Caroline says.

Shauna shrugs. "Cool, I guess."

Caroline smiles and nods.

After about 30 minutes, everyone else arrives. We begin playing Candor or Dauntless. It goes on for awhile and I start getting tired. No one picks me which makes me sort of relieved because I don't want a crazy dare to have to do. Will picks Uriah and I decide I pay attention because well, it's Uriah.

Will crosses his arms. "Okay," he says. "Uriah, I dare you to kiss whoever you would consider dating." Uriah stands up. He looks around, acting as if he doesn't know who to pick. All I can think about is him possibly kissing Caroline and me getting my feelings hurt. I can't believe I'm getting jealous. I never really have this much envy towards another girl, especially over a boy. I look back up and before I know it, Uriah's lips are pressed against mine.
