Uriah's POV

Marlene woke up 5 days later. The doctors were about to unplug her from life support, but Lynn and I convinced them to give us a few more days. If we hadn't asked, then Marlene would be dead.
It was all Lynn's idea and I could never repay her for that.

Six Months Later

Uriah's POV

"Hurry up Mar!" Lynn screams and laughs.
Marlene jumps on the train with Lynn and I.

"You've always been faster than me," Marlene explains. She looks at Lynn and they both laugh.

I put my arm around Marlene and stand beside the train's door. The cart is moving fast and the wind is blowing through all of our hair. I look outside and see that we're almost at the abandoned amusement park.
"Get ready to jump," I say to Lynn and Mar.
We all back up and jump off the moving train, landing perfectly.

Lynn and I promised each other that we wouldn't tell Marlene about her slipping into a coma. Mar doesn't know about it and we don't want her to. She does know however, that the baby was unfortunately lost. During the time Marlene was in the hospital, Lynn and I became closer. We've always been friends, but getting to spend time with her made me feel closer to her.
"Did you bring the food?" Lynn asks me.
I nod.
"You brought food?" Marlene asks. She immediately becomes excited.
I pull a slice of cake out from a bag that I brought and hand it to Lynn. We all sit down and I get a peanut butter cookie out of the bag for myself. I look at Marlene and she's waiting for me to give her something.
I kiss her on the forehead.
"Here," I say. I hand her a blueberry muffin. A smile spreads across her face and she takes it.

"You should've brought a gun," Lynn jokes.

"I did," I say.

"Really?"Marlene asks. She stands up and runs about 40 feet away from me. Mar pinches a piece of the muffin off and eats it. She places the muffin on top of her head and gives Lynn and I a thumbs up.
I take the gun and put a few pellets in it.
"Don't miss," Lynn says. I turn around and look at her. She smiles and laughs and I laugh too.

"Hurry up," Marlene says. "I can't balance this thing on my head forever."

"Okay," I say. I aim the gun at the muffin, just like I did before. And then I shoot, making the muffin fall to the ground.
