Broken

Chapter 15

"Colden!" Kevin called. "Yeah!" He yelled from the kitchen. "Check out May. I told you the black clothes and introvert was just a phase." Kevin said. "Hey!" I whined. "Sorry." Kevin apologized.

Colden came in and saw my cheerleader outfit, which I had to wear all day, and frowned. "May don't you think that's a little, I don't know, revealing?" Colden asked. I looked down at it and thought the same thing. The skirt was really short and the top barely ended below my breasts.

I smiled and shrugged. "I want to try something new." I lied. Colden raised an eyebrow but nodded. I walked upstairs and shut my door. "What am I doing?" I asked myself.

I slid down my door and started to cry for no reason. I looked up at glared at my mirror. I suddenly frowned as I realized something. I stood up and walked over to my mirror. I pulled my brown side-sweep bang aside and stared. My jaw dropped as I saw it.

I screamed and backed away from the mirror. I heard feet pound up the stairs and Colden was there in my doorway. "What's wrong?" He asked. I turned to him and showed him. His face darkened, but it was replaced by...sorrow?

"What happened?" I asked in a shaky voice. He shook his head and walked out of my room. "Colden! What happened to me!?" I screamed. I heard another pair of feet run up and I saw Avi. He saw it and his eyes were filled with sadness.

"What happened?" I asked again. "Do you remember our mom?" Avi asked. "Barely," I mumbled. "She did that. She did that to you." Avi said, anger now showing in his voice.

"Why wouldn't Colden tell me?" I asked. "He blames himself. After that happened he had your hair cut like that so you wouldn't see it. I guess the hairdresser got it too short this time." Avi said. I nodded and sat on my bed.

Avi sat next to me and wrapped me up in a hug. He may be dating my worst enemy, but I still love him. I can't ever stay mad at him.

"So you're a cheerleader now?" Avi asked. "Yeah. I guess so." I said. "It isn't because of Misty is it?" He asked. I tensed up at her name. "No. I just want to try something new. Why are you guys getting on my case?" I asked.

"You like our baby sister. We're just looking out for you." Avi said. I nodded and laid on my bed. Avi laid next to me and I fell asleep after a few minutes.

Before I fell asleep I heard Avi say something.

I love you more than you know.

I must just be hearing things, but I'll figure it out.
