Peter follows behind his father, trying his best to ignore the curious glances being sent their way. Tony had been showing the kid around the tower, taking him to meet a few of the interns that worked there.

“Uh, Mr. Stark sir?” Peter asks, trying to hide nervousness he felt. He didn’t like the attention being given, and he certainly didn’t like the idea of everyone knowing about him. One thing he was worried about was how people would react to Tony Stark having a son, because after that all
would turn to chaos. Peter could see what fame does to people, and he would rather not have his
entire life on display.

“Yeah kid?” Tony replies.

“What are we gonna tell people? When they ask…” Peter wasn’t exactly sure how to finish the question, but Tony understood what he meant.

“Well whatever you want I guess. It’s up to you. If you want to you can tell everyone that your dad is Tony Stark, earn some cool points. But if you’d rather stay under the radar then that’s
okay too. We can say your my intern.”

“That sounds good Mr. Stark. No offense to you or anything sir, but I’ve never been the kind to like attention.”

“Okay. First stop, R&D.”

It was a little while later when Tony, Pepper, and Peter were all sitting in the kitchen for lunch. It had been awkwardly silent, no one really sure of what to say. I mean, the kid lost his mom only a little while ago and neither Pepper nor Tony knew much about him. The kid didn’t say much
anyway, which was completely understandable. It’s Pepper who finally starts the conversation.

“So Peter, why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself.” Peter just pushes his food around on his plate, keeping his eyes focused on the wooden table.

“Not much to tell really.” Peter replies.

“I’m sure that’s not true. There’s more to you then meets the eye.” Pepper tries to meet the boy's gaze, but with no success.

“That ain’t so Ms. Potts. I’m nothing special.”

“Well what are your hobbies?”

“I like to learn.” Peter says quietly.

“Really?” Tony speaks for the first time since the meal began. “What kind of things do you like to study?”

“Just ‘bout anything really. I like new information.” A silence falls over them for a moment more. “What about you?” Peter asks.

“Us?” Tony asks. “What do you want to know?”

“Just tell me about you.”

“Well I’m Ironman, but you already knew that. I’m a nerd, but you can’t let anyone else know that. I love science.” Tony replies. He then looks to Pepper, signaling that it’s her turn.

“I’m actually the boss around here, no matter what Tony like to think.” Pepper says, getting a laugh from the teen. “I’m allergic to strawberries, and I’m so glad to have you here with us
Peter.”

“Me too Pete.” Tony adds in. “I’m glad you’re here.”

“Thank you both.” Is Peter’s reply. Pepper decided to ask another question before things get to
awkward.
