People get married everyday. It's not an extra ordinary thing really. People do it all the time for various reasons whether a couple's reasons are emotional, legal, financial, or some, or any combination of these.
For many couples, emotional reasons are the most obvious cause for walking down the aisle. Like 88% of the general public, love is the main reason they chose to tie the knot. And our phenomenal couple are no different. They love each other to the ends of the universe and back and willing to fight tooth and nail for it.
It all started when they first became official boyfriend and girlfriend sometime in early 2016. When they went abroad to shoot their movie, he made his very first proposal inside an old church somewhere in Italy, in front of the holy image of the Virgin Mary, with Richard promising in front of the Blessed Mother that he will take care of Nicomaine until the end of his days. This was also witnessed by Maine's mother in person and the rest of the family members on video via skype. Richard Senior and the rest of his family, though already aware of Junior's plans, were told of the actual events after. They had to pacify the old lady to keep it on the down low with promises of great-grandchildren when the proper time comes. Maine's words summed up the whole event, "Grabe ka sakin Jay!" Much tears flowed freely afterward.
September was when the formal pamamanhikan happened. It was supposed to be hush hush, but family members couldn't keep their excitement to themselves and were dropping clues about it. Biggest of all is the groom to be of course, with his dancing happy banana tweet. Why banana? No special reason really, it was the first gif he found on his phone, it being a yellow banana is a plus, as yellow happens to be the bride to be's favorite color, so she'll know that he's alluding to her. A few days after, the bride to be was seen sporting an emerald cut diamond ring on her finger. Jokingly dubbed as "Brilliante Mendoza" due to it's sheer size yet simple beauty. It sparkles, like the girl who wears it.

Fast forward to October. October 22, 2016 to be exact. The date of their KalyeSerye wedding. No it's not true that they got married earlier on the same day. What they did do was the Pre-Cana Blessing or formal bethrothal rites. Richard wanted to do all things possible to start getting their impending union all the blessings from heaven. They both knew they're going to need it with some rules that they will be breaking. Both set of parents were there. They tried not to be seen by anyone but of course, that is almost impossible, her parents were still spotted in the area. Giving rise to the rumors that there was a real wedding that took place prior. They just both laughed at it, though it was a good opportunity to actually do it. The classic hidden in plain sight. But nah, he wouldn't do that. Not with the show shouldering all the expenses. When he gets married, by God he's going to pay for all of it! He put his foot down though with the wedding rings for the show. He had a set made for them in Japan. The ones with their names engraved. Never mind if it doesn't match the platinum engagement ring they used for the show. He really didn't like that show ring anyway, the stone was too small for his bride to be's radiant beauty. But he was most insistent with the gold wedding rings and boy did he wear that wedding ring with pride, never mind if it's only for the show. To him, it's a preview of what his future would be like. If he had to take it off, he wears its instead in his necklace, together with his scapular, crucifix and St. Benedict medal, close to his heart.

And so they skated through early 2017 in bliss, basking in each other's love. They sneaked into far off and hidden places to spend private time together, away from prying eyes. They were in the top list of clients for charter planes, boutique hotels, private beaches and rented yachts. Where the highest privacy can be afforded by the ones who wields influences and top dollar. They try to make sure no trails or traces can be found. They do ocassionally slip up, people sighting them asking to take pictures. They asked nicely not to publicly put those photos out. They were still lucky that most of those they encountered acquiesced to their request so not much evidence leaked except for the ocassional chatter. They also made plans for everything. Their house, or houses rather, their businesses, travels, how many kids, and all those little and big things that an engaged couple usually talks about and get busy with.
Of course, like with any other couple too, fights were inevitable. Though theirs were becoming too often for comfort. They started getting into more and more arguments. He was getting very busy with work and setting up his businesses. It was no secret that he was keen on sorting out everything, including the welfare of his family. She was busy too but not as much as he is and she wanted more time to spend with him. Sometimes they would go for a couple of days without seeing each other in person, if not for the split screen on their daily show they wouldn't see each other at all. Cracks began to show, she would get argumentative and he would argue right back. They would scream at each other. She would cry and then he'll just hug and kiss her and say sorry. Then after two days it would happen all over again. It got pretty tiring for both of them. They were slowly drifting apart. When they did the show about a girl having depression, it wasn't too far of a reach for her to act like it. She was already feeling lonely at that time. They were trying as much as they can, but they felt like they were drowning. Different managements, different workloads, different interests and different crowds were slowly driving them away from each other.
The big crack that broke them finally happened in November. They had a huge, huge ugly fight, she was in despair and just wanted to get away from it all, including him. Out of anger and exasperation she just blurted that they should just break up and him being just so damn tired of all the drama and arguing all the time, just agreed to do what she wanted and walked away. She was so livid and upset she lashed back with her best weapon, her written words. That was the lowest point of both their lives. They were both so furious, hurt and miserable. He in turn got sick, he got confined in the hospital for several days. She was there on the second day, they were both crying and saying sorry to each other over and over again. And after the tears died down, they talked. Heart to heart - of only things that truly matter. Though it's shattering them both, they both agreed with the time apart. They need to breathe outside their circle of two. They need to find themselves that somehow got lost in the middle of "us two".
