VALERIE WAKES UP TO HERSELF WHIMPERING and tears falling down her face as her body shakes in fear of what her dreams reminded her of.
She sits up and cries quietly into her blanket for a few minutes until exhaustion gets to her again. So, Valerie checks her phone and sees that it's 4 AM.
Her shaky body lays back down and Valerie tries to think of nice things but her mind drifts to her siblings, especially Vanya who'd come onto her bed and hold her until she fell asleep.
When she wakes up again, it wasn't any better but she got a few more hours of sleep so she doesn't care.
Valerie goes downstairs in her rumpled clothes from yesterday and finds the kitchen empty which on the rare condition, Valerie can make some tea.
Tea was a guilty pleasure of hers growing up. Her siblings complained it was gross and tasted like shit along with jokes about how Valerie was like their dad, the only ones who could drink it but with Valerie, it was always a nice thing to drink for her nerves.
So she grabs some tea bags that her mom buys for her (even after a couple of years) and makes some Earl Grey tea. Once it's done, she adds honey and some sugar before going to the living room only to find Allison and Luther already there.
"Well, hello love birds," she greets making them cough and sputter for a reply, "how are you both this fine morning?"
They share an uneasy look making Valerie roll her eyes, "what's up with you guys? Come on, you can tell Auntie Val."
Luther sighs in annoyance, "how many times do I have to tell you that I hate when you say that?"
Valerie smirks and takes a long sip of her Earl Grey, "and how many times do I have to tell you that I will never stop saying it, just for you!" Valerie coos making Allison let out a little chuckle, "so, what is wrong? Trouble in paradise?" Valerie asks while she pouts at the two.
The two rolls their eyes, "we... think..." Luther drags on making Valerie groan.
"Out with it, Hulk."
Allison lets out a sigh, "we think that mom might have something to do with dad's death."
"Dad's what now?" Valerie asks as she looks between the two in confusion, "why would you think that?"
"Come, we'll show you," Allison explains as she and Luther stand up only to quickly usher Valerie to do the same.
"Watch it, I have a hot beverage in my hand, big guy!"
After the two show her the footage and explain what happened this morning, Valerie stiffly sits on the couch as the two talk.
"I don't like this any more than you both do, but she's hiding something," Luther says going with his gut feeling on everything that has happened.
