CESAR

I jogged across the street as the streetlights begin to glow, I'm walking home from my friend, Ruby's house

It's the last night of summer, tomorrow is orientation and everything is going back to normal well not everything

I walk pass an alleyway when I hear a girls voice "please just leave me alone" the voice cried

I slowed my walking down, and looked down the dark alley decided for whether I should check it out or not

In Freeridge alleyways day or night is a bad idea, but I couldn't just keep walking if there's someone in trouble

I took a deep breath before speed walking into looking around cautiously "hello?" I say

I hear rumbling by the dumpster but it's dark in this alleyway so it's hard to see what's happening

"please stop" the voice cried a little louder

I walked a little closer and squinted my eyes to see a two guys forcing themselves onto the girl "hey!" I say

"I said hey" I say little louder catching the two guys attention

"keep walking nothing to see here" one of them say

"no" I say

"qué dijiste?" he asked walking closer to me

"I said no" I say taking deep breaths

he walked closer and closer to me until the other guy stopped him "that's spooky little brother man, Solo vamonos"

"esto no ha terminado" he says kicking the pebbles at the girl before they both ran away

I walked towards the girl and helped her up, she was only wearing a hoodie and cargo shorts, I could see her shivering "no es seguro aquí" I spoke

she stayed silent putting her hood on, "deberias irte a casa" I say

she still stayed silent, she not must understand me "do you have a place you can go?" I say in English

I open my mouth to ask her another question when "no" she finally spoke up

"No, I don't" She says

I furrowed my eyebrows showing my confusion/concern

"this is where I sleep every night" she says pointing to the spot by the dumpster

"w-what's your name?" I asked

"Jo" she says

"I'm Cesar" I say holding out my hand she looks down before uneasily shook my hand

she then put her hands back in her hoodies pocket before looking down

I cleared my throat before speaking again "um so jo, why don't you come with me you can sleep at my house tonight" I say

"I don't know if that's good idea" she says

"After what just happened I don't want you out here, and it'll just be for tonight" I say

she stood still "Hey, I'm not going to hurt you" I say

she once again stayed silent "just for tonight, I promise" I say holding out my hand

she slowly takes my hand, we walk out the alleyway together, as we walked down the street I let go of her hand since she became comfortable in my presence

As we walked closer to my house, I noticed oscar's car wasn't in sight meaning he wasn't home

We walked across the street and onto my porch
