𝖙𝖔𝖉𝖆𝖞 𝖔𝖘𝖈𝖆𝖗 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖎 𝖇𝖔𝖙𝖍 𝖍𝖆𝖉 business to do. I had a physical therapy appointment today, so I got dressed and kissed Oscar goodbye before getting in James's car. When the appointment ended instead of taking me home James took me to lunch. So Right now I'm sitting outside of a fancy restaurant in Brentwood eating a burger and fries while James ate a pasta dish.

"So you got anything you wanna get off your chest?" He asked, "no— not really" I say while eating a french fry, "are you sure?" He asked. "Yeah" I say

"You don't wanna talk about that big scary guy that came charging towards us the last time I saw you?" He asked causing me chuckle, "you mean Oscar?" I asked, "if that's his name then yeah—Oscar" he says

"Who is he?" He asked, "He's my boyfriend" I answered making him blink in surprise, "really? and does he always look like he's gonna kill someone?" He asked, "Oscar is a big teddy bear" I say, "Seriously? because I thought he was going to kill me" he says making me laugh "No— he was just worried, I didn't tell him where I was going" I say

"Okay, so how did you and Oscar meet?" He asked

"The first time—we kinda ran into each other" I say keeping it the answer short

"And the second time?" He asked

"I was homeless— and I had got jumped by these guys— they stole all the money I had on me and they stabbed me in my shoulder and I walked 2 blocks from where I got jumped to his house, he had friends that stitched me up, he gave me food and a place to sleep— and I been living there everyday since" I say

"Whatever happened to the guys that jumped you?" He asked

"I beat one of them with a baseball bat— they never messed with me again" I say

"You always solve your problems with violence?" He asked

"No— I'm not a violent person— but with the life that I've lived with, I've learn that sometimes you have to get violent to get your point across" I say before eating another French fry

When we finished with our lunch James paid for it and we got back in his car and he started driving back towards the house to drop me off. But before they happened I asked him to pull over so I get a job application from this barbecue place called Dwayne's Joint BBQ

James waited in the car while I went inside, I walked to man who stood behind the counter "hello how may I help?" He asked, "I saw the help wanted sign— I was wondering if I could get a job application?" I asked

"Jo?"

I turned my head to see Cesar, "Cesar?" I immediately rushed towards him and pulled him into a hug "I'll get you the application ma'am" the man said, I thanked him before turning back to Cesar "what are you doing here?" I asked

"I work here" he says, as the man gives me the job application "are you applying here?" he asked and I nodded "where been sleeping?" I asked

"Jamal's" he replies and I nod again "Jo— I'm really sorry" he says

"No Cesar—" I say before he cut me off, "it's my fault that you got shot" he says, "no it's not" I say

"Latrelle would of never—" he started but I stopped him "Latrelle didn't shoot me" I say

"What?" He questioned "then— wh-who shot you?" he stuttered

"Justin" I answered, "Justin? as in your ex boyfriend?" He asked and I nod, "Do Oscar know?" he asked, "No" I shake my head

"What? Why?— Jo you have to tell Oscar!" He says, "I don't want to start anything with the prophets" I whispered

"Jo?"

I turn around to see James with an urgent look on his face "who's that?" Cesar asked, I turn back towards Cesar "it's a friend— I gotta go" I say before giving him one last hug "I miss you" I say

"I miss you too" he says as we pulled away from hug, I give him one last look before leaving the restaurant and getting back into James's car as soon as I shut the door, he drove off

"what's wrong?" I asked

"we have to go back to Brentwood" he says

"Why?" I asked

"there's been emergency" he says
