Coffee break

My phone alarm rang next to my head, giving out a soft tune that was meant to wake me up. The sun was shining through the window, giving a soft and warm feeling in my room. This would have been the perfect way to wake up...if I had actually managed to sleep at all last night. Yesterday's events never seemed to leave my mind. I had seen the other side of the turtles and I don't know if I am impressed or confused. I'm not going to lie, seeing them getting protective over me felt...good. I don't want to feel selfish but nobody has looked out for me in that way ever.

My mum doesn't really count as she has a different type of way to look after me. The protection only a mother can give. They on the other hand were ready to fight. I did feel very safe. But then there was something else that stuck in my mind.
What if I was at the other end of the argument?
What if they got mad at me? Would they fight? I have never had to fight in my life so they would easily beat me.

I let out a groan and sit up, trying to rub the sleep out of my eyes unsuccessfully.
I look over at the clock and jump up. I was late for coffee with Penelope!
I ran around my room clumsily, trying to find clean clothing, only to realise I was still in yesterday's clothing. They were still fairly clean. A bit of perfume and I was good to go. I quickly slip on my shoes and grab my keys, phone and purse. I make it down the elevator and rush out the front door, only to bump into someone and fall backwards onto the hard ground.

"I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going," I try to quickly apologise as I look up.

"Hey! No worries (y/n)," It was Tony. He extended out his hand and helped me up. "You in a hurry?" He asked as I brushed myself off.

"Late for coffee with my friend," I let out a guilty laugh.

"Ah. Coffee sounds nice. I'm early to my shift so I might go get one myself,"

"Why don't you join me?" I quickly ask without thinking. His blue eyes widen as a smile spreads across his face.

"That sounds great! Lead the way,"

I really hope Penelope is okay that I'm bringing him along. Too late now. I really need to think before I speak.

"Oh um, this way," I say as we begin to walk to Cafe Verde.

We walked in nearly complete silence. There was the occasional bland topic being brought up such as 'great weather we're having' and something about how PacMan was originally called PucMan. Thanks Tony for that one. We soon arrived at the Cafe and let ourselves in. It was early so nobody else was in yet. The soft ring of the bell went off, signalling that we had entered and alerting Penelope who was behind the counter setting up.

"(Y/n)!" She squealed as she come over and hugged me. "You look awful? What happened?"
Thanks P for the confidence boost.
"Did you get any sleep?"

"Not really, long night," I shrugged. She gave me a side smile before clapping her hands together.

"Nothing some coffee can't fix!" She beamed. She opened her eyes and her gaze shifted to the man standing close behind me. Her face lit up even more as she looked back at me.
"Is this one of the boys you were chatting with?" she half whispered but I no doubt know that Tony heard it. "Let me guess...Leo?"

I gave her an eye roll before standing aside to introduce them.
"Penelope, this is Tony," I drew out his name so she would know that she was far from the guess she gave "he works in my apartment building and he said he wanted coffee so I invited him,"

She walked over to him and gave him a quick hug. "Any friend of (y/n)'s is a friend of mine," she turned back to me and winked "especially if it is a cute boy,"

My face went a bright red as I glared at the bubbly girl in front of me. I couldn't help but smile as I shook my head at her then went to sit down, Tony not far behind. It only took another few minutes for our coffees to arrive.

Penelope brought over a chair and sat with us. She was just about to start talking when my phone made a small buzz. It was the ringtone from C.C.L. Penelope and I knew that sound all to well. It was probably one of the boys and I really don't know if I should answer.

"So, any news on Chris?" I ask as I try to ignore the phone and hoping she will to.
She raised and eyebrow before speaking up.

"Not going to get that? What if it is one of the boys?"

I saw Tony's eyebrows raise slightly at the comment.

"I can get it later, they aren't going anywhere," I shrugged. She gave me a suspicious look before shrugging it off and beginning a new convocation. I shot her a look of gratitude before joining in.

Leo's POV

Me: Morning, just wanted to check in on you. Things got pretty heated yesterday and the guys and I really are sorry.

She hasn't replied. Hasn't even read it. We must have really screwed up. Normally she is really quick to reply but today, nothing. We finally get someone who isn't afraid of us and gives us a chance and we frighten them in other ways.

Maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions and I really hope I am. I can tell my brothers feel the same way. For the first time in a very long while, the lair is silent.  Donnie is most likely replaying everything that happened and over-analysing it. Mikey is probably trying to look on the bright side, and then there is Raph. I have no idea what he could be thinking.

I'm too scared to think about what (y/n) must have thought. She seemed more or less okay when she left but I guess she is better at hiding emotions from us.

I'm stuck. How can I possibly fix this?
