Remi's POV

It's Thursday night and I am on my way to my dad's office after dinner. "Hey Remi, wait up!" Harry shouts running over to me. "Want to walk together to Lupin's office?" he asks me I just shrug and we walk together. "You know, your dad is the best DADA teacher we've ever had" he tells me smiling.

"I know, he taught me everything I know about defense" I tell him smiling.

"Do you know the spell he'll be teaching us?" he asks me.

"Most likely the patronus charm, it repels dementors and lethifolds" I tell him.

"Two questions, what is a patronus charm? And what's a lethifold?" he asks me.

"A Patronus is an ancient and mysterious charm conjures a magical guardian, a projection of all your most positive feelings. The Patronus Charm is difficult, and many witches and wizards are unable to produce a full, corporeal Patronus, a guardian which generally takes the shape of the animal with whom they share the deepest affinity. You may suspect, but you will never truly know what form your Patronus will take until you succeed in conjuring it" I explain.

"The lethifold is also known as the living shroud. It a carnivorous dangerous magical creature that feeds on human flesh. The Lethifold resembles a black cloak roughly half an inch thick, and appears slightly thicker if the creature has recently digested a victim. Also it only attacks those who sleep, don't worry though. It only lives in the tropics" I assure him.

Just then we arrived at my dad's office and enter. "What is that?" Harry asks dad who heaves a chest onto the desk.

"An other boggart" he states. "I've been combing the castle ever since Tuesday, and very luckily, I found this one lurking inside Mr. Filch's filing cabinet. It's the nearest we'll get to a real Dementor. The Boggart will turn into a Dementor when he sees you, but Lethifold when he sees Remi. So we'll be able to practice on him. I can store him in my office when we're not using him; there's a cupboard under my desk he'll like" he explains.

"Great" I grumble. Ever since I read about lethifolds I've been terrified of them. Now I'll have to face a boggart one.

"The spell I am going to try and teach you is highly advanced magic, Harry — well beyond Ordinary Wizarding Level. It is called the Patronus Charm" dad tells Harry.

"Remi explained what it is, but what does it look like?" he asks us.

"Each one is unique to the wizard who conjures it" we tell him.

"How do you conjure it?" Harry asks my dad.

"With an incantation, which will work only if you are concentrating, with all your might, on a single, very happy memory" dad explains.

"The incantation is Expecto Patronum" I add. Harry and I repeat the incantation. I do so while concentrating on my happy memory. We are both holding our wands.

"Focusing on your happy memory Harry"  dad tells him and Harry nods. Soon wisps of silver shot out of both of our wands.

"Did you see?" Harry asks excitedly.

"Something happened" I add smiling.

"Very good" dad praises us. "Ready to try with the boggart?" he asks us. Harry volunteers to go first. So I stand behind him with my wand at the ready if needed. Lupin grasped the lid of the chest and pulled it up. A Dementor rose slowly from the chest, its hooded face turned to face Harry. The lamps around the office flickered and went out. I shiver as the dementor approaches Harry and I.

"Expecto patronum! Expecto..." Harry voice trails off as he faints.

"Expecto Patronum!" I shout and a weak silvery shield appeared between us & the boggart. While I think of the first time I came to Hogwarts before I'd gotten my letter. Dad forced the boggart back into the chest as my shield weaken. Once it was locked away we approached Harry waking him.

"Sorry" Harry mumbles as he stands up.

"Are you all right?" dad asks us.

"Yes" we tell him and he gives us a chocolate frog each.

"I didn't expect either of you to do it your first time; in fact, I would have been astounded if either of you had" dad tells us.

"It's getting worse. I could hear her louder that time — and him — Voldemort" Harry explains.

"Harry, if you don't want to continue, I will more than understand" dad tells him.

"I do" Harry tells him fiercely. "I've got to! What if the Dementors turn up at our match against Ravenclaw? I can't afford to fall off again and I don't want to put pressure on Remi. If we lose this game we've lost the Quidditch Cup" he explains.

"You might want to select another memory, a happy memory, I mean, to concentrate on...That one doesn't seem to have been strong enough. You to Remi, the shield was weak" dad tells me. I nod my head and think of another memory. I decide to choose my day with Snuffles. "Ready?" dad asks us.

Harry nods his head and we get into the same position as before. Dad opened the chest and the dementor came out again. "Expecto patronum! Expecto patronum! Expecto Pat..." Harry faints again. This time the boggart turns into a lethifold as it focused on me. I freeze when I see it, luckily dad was prepared and got it back into the chest.

"Sorry dad" I say feeling ashamed of freezing.

"It's ok Remi, it's the first time you've faced your worst fear. It maybe a boggart, but your fear is real" he tells me. He hugs me close as we woke Harry.

"I heard my dad. That's the first time I've ever heard him — he tried to take on Voldemort himself, to give my mum time to run for it" Harry explains while laying on the floor.

"You heard James?" dad asks him shocked.

"Yeah... Why — you didn't know my dad, did you?" Harry asks him as he stands up.

"I did, as a matter of fact. We were friends at Hogwarts. Listen, Harry — perhaps we should leave it here for tonight. This charm is ridiculously advanced...I shouldn't have suggested putting you and Remi through this" dad states.

"No" we tell him firmly. That's one thing Harry and I had in common. We're both stubborn.

"I'll have one more go! I'm not thinking of happy enough things, that's what it is...hang on" Harry tells us.

"Ready?" dad asks us once we're in position.

"Just do it" we tell him and he opens the chest.

"Expecto patronum!" Harry shouts. A huge, silver shadow came bursting out of the end of Harry's wand, to hover between him and the Dementor. But I saw he is unsteady and send my own patronus to help him. Which is stronger then my first one. We backed the boggart back into the chest and dad shuts it tight.

"Well done Harry and Remi, well done" dad praises us as we sit down. He gives us each a bar of the best chocolate Honeydukes' has. I start to eat mine happily. We agreed same time next week. But before we leave Harry speaks up.

"Professor Lupin? If you knew my dad, you must've known Sirius Black as well" Harry states. Dad and I look at him quickly.

"What gives you that idea?" dad asks him.

"Nothing — I mean, I just knew they were friends at Hogwarts too" Harry explains.

"Yes, I knew him" dad says as we both relax. "Or I thought I did. You'd both better be off, it's getting late" he tells us. I hug him goodnight and kiss his cheek before leaving with Harry.
