As soon as I walk into the house, I am greeted by a very angry Devin with what seems to be a permanent scowl on his face. He has been scowling a lot lately. He'd better stop before his face gets stuck like that. My mom's car wasn't in the garage when I walked in, so I figured she and my dad went somewhere. They both have today off, which I know because we were talking about it yesterday. It's very rare that they get the same exact day off. Either Devin is angry that our parents left him, or something seriously pissed him off. He is looking at me like he can chop my head off any minute now.

"Where you been?" He asks.

"Over a friend's house." I roll my eyes. "Not that it's any of your concern."

"You're my little sister, it is my concern."

"I'm not little." I scoff.

"You definitely ain't older than me." His eyes go wide in disbelief. "Therefore, you are my little sister."

"What is your problem? It's like ever since I started talking to Fergie you got a stick up your ass." I counter back.

"Because I don't want y'all together. If something goes wrong, it's gonna ruin everything. My friendship. Our relationship as siblings. It's endless possibilities." He holds out his hands before him, pointing them at me. "I cannot stress this enough!"

"Nothing's gonna go wrong! We're not even serious." I say.

"He's gonna break your heart." He shakes his head. "That's who you was with last night, weren't you?"

"Like I said, it ain't your concern."

"That gives me my answer right there."

"Look Devin, I'm not about to argue with you. I like Fergie. Fergie likes me. We're cool. Nothing's wrong." I grit my teeth between each word.

I see that I'm going to have to say things with aggression. Devin is such an immature being at times. He does not take me seriously when I try to go about things the calm way. Being aggressive is not really my thing, but sometimes it is necessary for people to see my perspective on things.

"Don't say I didn't warn you." He stands up.

"Warn me about what? Fergie is a nice guy, we've known him forever." I ask.

"He's a guy. That's all I'm saying." He says.

"You're a guy. Brittany ass is still with you." I point out.

"We're . . ." He says but he trails off when he cannot find the words to say.

"Y'all what?" I egg him on.

"We're not the same as you and Fergie." His argument is weak.

"You know what, Dev. I'm bout to go to my room. Maybe you can get the stick out your ass while I do so." I roll my eyes at him and walk out of the kitchen.

If he really loves me and cares for me like he says he does, then he will find a way to accept that Fergie and I are into each other. There is no doubt in my mind that he won't come to terms with it. I know he will get used to us being together one day. Fergie has been nothing but caring and sweet to me. Not to mention, I have grown up with him. I know him in ways that other people don't. I've watched him from behind the scenes of life. It hurts me to know that my own brother won't accept the fact that I'm into Fergie. If my parents can hop on this happy wave, then surely Devin can find it in his heart to do so as well.

Once I get to my room, I slam my door shut and I jump on my bed. Anyone can tell that I'm furious. My breathing is much harder and now I have a permanent scowl on my face. No one fails to make me mad more than my brother. I love my brother to death, but he knows how to get under my skin. Apparently I know how to get under his too because he's been acting like this for a while now. I will not worry myself too much about it. He needs to grow up and get over himself. He will block his blessings trying to worry about the next person.

I take out my phone and call the one person whom I haven't spoken to in what feels like forever.

I'm surprised when the phone connects to the recipient caller.

"Hello?" The voice sounds annoyed.

"Can we please stop arguing? I miss my friend." I frown even though the caller can't see my face.

"I guess." Tamara sighs.

"Good." I small smiles creeps its way onto my face.

Not that I'd ever confide in her about the drama that is going on with my brother, but I do need a break. I feel like we're going to get into another argument if I tell her what's going on, so I won't say anything. Some things are better left unsaid. I'm more interested in what she has been up to since I haven't talked to her in what feels like forever. I think this is the longest we've ever been mad at each other and it happens to be over the stupidest thing. I'm slowly learning the real definition of taking things for granted. You never know what you have until it's gone. I have never been more grateful for a friendship. Albeit, I was livid with Tamara and her childish tendencies when it came to communicating about a problem. I have too much history with her to throw away. It makes me wonder would she have reached out to me first after a while. I try not to think too much about it.

"What do you want? I'm kinda in the middle of binge watching Sherlock because I have no life." Her words her muffled. It sounds like she's eating a snack.

"I just wanted to hear your voice." I simply say. Because I need some reminder that all things are not horrible. That something in this universe can go right for once.

"Okay." She drawls out the word, as if she's confused. "Are you okay?"

"Yep, why do you ask?"

"You're being awfully nice to someone who was rude to you—for some time, might I add."

"I'm over it." I shrug my shoulders. "No more room for negativity in my life. I forgive you, I didn't forget."

"Fair enough."

"I guess I'll let you get back to watching Sherlock. Lame ass." I chuckle.

"Don't do Sherlock! It is one of the greatest shows ever. Plus I ship John and Sherlock."

"You're so weird. Goodbye." I laugh.

"Wait, Tee?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm really sorry. I miss you too."

I guess it's true. Not all things are terrible.
