In Australia it goes in this order:
Preschool - Toddlers
Primary school - Kindergarten to Year 6
High School - Year 7 to Year 12
University
In primary school you stay in the same class for the whole year but high school is even you do different classes. At the end of year 12 you do exams to get a HSC (Higher Schools Certificate) and this helps you get into uni.
School goes for 4 terms that go for 10-11 weeks and you get a 2 week break in between. You then get 6 weeks for Christmas holidays which is in Summer.
