Life's a bumpy road

Part 17: Court

Lana's POV:

Today is the day we go to court.

We told Jared a few days ago.

He didn't say much about this.

Sarah has connections so was able to book this very quickly.

Later:

We get out of the car and as we are about to get inside the court room I bend down and talk to Jared "Jared, sweetie, no matter what happens, just know me and your dad love you so much ok?"

He hugs us and mumbles "ok"

We enter the court room and get into places

Sean kisses me and says "It will be alright"

A few minutes later we get started

"Now, Sarah you and your husband got rid of Jared when he was a baby and now you would like him back?" The judge says

"We couldn't afford having twins at that time. Now we are stable and ready for Jared to be reunited with his biological twin sister." Sarah says

"Now Lana and Sean, why should you keep Jared when he has his family?" The judge says

"We have all been together for a while now. Jared has us as his family when he had none, we took him in, gave him a home, and we love him." I say

"Jared with whom do you prefer to be with?" The judge asks

"I love Lana and Sean." Jared says

"Did he spend any time with his sister and his biological family?" The judge asks Sarah

"Not really." She says then continues "He needs time to get to know us. He will love us as we love him, its in his blood. He just prefers Lana and Sean at the moment because they took him in."

"Sarah, he already has a home, he doesn't need yours." The judge says to Sarah and her husband

"We don't want him spending his life knowing he has a twin sister, his real parents. We are ready for him." Her husband says

Sean talks "Me and my wife gave him a home and now they want to take Jared away. We are his legal parents."

"Please. I don't want to be seperated from my brother. I hardly know him, and I will never know him if he's away from us." Their daughter says

"Lana and Sean gave him a home when he had none. He has his biological family waiting for him. Think of it more as if Lana were his foster home. The case is closed. He shall return with his twin sister and biological parents" The judge bangs his gavel

Its done

I see Sarah and her family run to Jared and hug him

I run out

Tears streaming down my face

Why, why did this happen again?

Sean comes running out yelling "Lana!" He speaks softly hugging me "Lana."

All I can do is sob and drop to the ground
