"You're Weird." Malakai said with a humorous tone. He casted a smile across the table at Diana which pleased her very much.

"Last time I checked, that's a compliment coming fro-" Diana froze with a crippling feeling of fright upon seeing blood run out of her mate's eyes profusely. Malakai's head was frozen in a sideways position while the blood ran freely down his face in copious amounts. "MALAKAI! MALAKAI!" Diana rushed to his side if the booth and held his face between her hands. She wiped the blood from his face, but it kept running. "Kai...Kai baby, stay with me..." Diana felt water hit her cheeks and run into her lap. What could that be she thought... then she realized she was crying. For the first time since her parents' death, Diana Ravenwood was crying.

She could no longer hear his heartbeat with her heightened senses.

Her sobs racked violently through her body as the most precious pieces of herself shattered to bits. Her one and only laid in her arms lifeless.

Pain.

Pain.

Pain.

The inability to breath and the ache in her chest left her useless. She panned her gaze across the diner to see the once busy establishment, completely abandoned.

An eerie feeling swallowed her whole. The lights seemed to dim on their own and fog floated an inch above the tile floor.

Very meticulously three hooded figures rose from the fog and stood in formation in front of Diana.

"Diana Sage Ravenwood," The middle figure hissed with a wretchedly high pitched and broken voice, "We have a message for you: Stay away from our kind and your mate will not be harmed. However, if you refuse to accept our terms your mate will meet the fate you saw here tonight. Do not pursue us. Do not stop us and he will be safe. Fail to do so and he is dead."

"WHO ARE YOU!" Diana shouted through her sobs, only causing tears to spill more aggressively.

"I think you know who we are," The person behind the middle figure screeched. "In witched vincet!"

Diana woke up sweating and screaming bloody murder. She was still disoriented and nauseous from her horrifying nightmare. She thrashed her limbs which were restrained by her sheets. She just needed to get them off her, she was too anxious to have anything touch her. She jumped from her bed onto weak legs and collapsed heavily to the floor.

"Oww." She groaned. "It was a dream, D. It was just a dream. It was just a dream. It was just a dream." Despite repeating the words countless times, she found it hard to believe them. Was it just a dream? It was threatening. It felt so real. She picked up her phone and searched through her contacts for a certain someone. She had to know he was safe. She had to make sure nothing had happened.

After the phone rang four times there came an answer, "...Hello?" A groggy voice asked into the phone.

"Malakai?!" Diana said in a frantic tone.

"Diana? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Suddenly on high alert, Kai fired off questions to his mate, who definitely did not seem like the type of person to call him at 2:47am for no apparent reason.

"I'm fine. I'm fine. Are you okay?" She still had a paranoid tone that oozed fear. This only caused more confusion for Malakai.

"Of course, I'm okay. What's going on Diana?"

There was a pause.

"I-I-I had a bad dream and you- you-you were..." She covered the speaker end of the phone and released a loud sob.

"I'll be there in five minutes."

"You don't have to-" She tried to respond but was cut off by her mate's insisting.

Diana mind-linked the night patrol to let them know Malakai would be entering the territory so he wouldn't face any menacing guards in an effort to see his mate. Diana paced her bedroom back and forth and back and forth; she was lost in a sea of thoughts.

What could this mean?

Who were they?

Was it a real threat?

Are the witches after me?

Should I stop my investigation?

Who should I tell?

The loud chorus of her doorbell interrupted her paranoid ramblings. She rushed down the stairs and threw the door open carelessly only to be met with the refreshing sight of her mate on her doorstep.

He wore Nike joggers and an old sweatshirt that had numerous wrinkles, his feet were dressed in slippers, and his eyes were framed by his signature glasses.

He was just what she needed.

Without thinking about how it would make her look or if it was the wrong thing to do. Diana wrapped her arms around Kai's neck and tucked herself securely in his chest. She inhaled his calming scent and began to relax. He was here. He was safe. He was in her arms.

Malakai felt his mate's figure shaking in his grasp. "Diana baby talk to me. What happened?" Kai rubbed soothing circles up and down her back to relax her and remind her he was right here with her.

Fighting her tears Diana managed to say, "I-I h-had a bad dr-dream and you were...you were h-h-hurt." She began to shake harder, an indicator that she was crying even harder.

Malakai picked Diana up by the back of her knees and carried her bridal style to her room which she gave him directions to. He placed her gently on the king-sized bed and pulled her blanket up to her chin. He then kneeled by the bed.

"I'm right here hun'. I'm right here." Her cries started to grow quieter and she turned to face her mate.

"Will you lay with me please?" Surprised she even asked that question, Diana blushed slightly. She was in a vulnerable state; she was not in her right mind.

Not having to be told twice, Kai jumped at the opportunity and climbed in next to Diana. They both laid on their sides facing each other.

She stared intently into his ocean eyes which were quickly becoming her favorite thing to look at. Kai pulled his mate into his chest and rested his chin on her head. He started rubbing circles into her back again. He didn't have to know the details of the dream. Not right now. He just needed to be there for his mate and wrap her in his arms until she was ready to return to the fearless, she-wolf he knew she was. He placed a chaste kiss on her forehead.

"Thank you for being here Kai. I thought I had really lost you for a second." Diana confessed emotionally.

"I'm not going anywhere, Diana. I'm right here." And with those final words, they both fell into a peaceful sleep entangled in each other's arms.
