EXT. SPIN IT SKATING RINK PARKING LOT – DAY
FTW performs in the parking lot, in the middle of shooting their video. Their classmates dance around behind them crowded around their cars. It's a party!
FLYNN
Cut!
The music stops and Flynn gives FTW a thumbs up. Torie walks over to consult with him.
TORIE
Where do you want us next?
FLYNN
You guys can take break if you want. I'm going to get some shots around the parking lot.
TORIE
Cool.
Flynn sets off with his camera as Brandy, Shae, Mo, and Savannah approach Torie.
BRANDY
We have an idea. Why don't we invite our second halves to shoot a few scenes with us.
MO
Every romance song needs a video bea.
TORIE
I thought the vision was having a girls night out. Just the five of us.
SHAE
And in case you've forgotten, not all of us have plus ones.
BRANDY
We invited the whole school, which includes the basketball team and the football team.
MO
Not to mention the soccer guys, and the baseball players. You two will have no problem finding someone who fits your preferences.
SAVANNAH
You mean for actors, right?
MO
Whatever happens after today is none of my business.
BRANDY
Take your pick?
TORIE
I didn't come here to find a date. I came here to work.
BRANDY
I kind of agree with them. The song is about falling in love with someone who makes you happy. It could help tell the story.
TORIE
I guess since I'm the only one who wants to stick to the original plan, majority rules.
Brandy and Mo high-five.
BRANDY
Let's go spread the word.
The girls rejoin the crowd where the lovebirds embrace each other. Torie watches on, longing, but hopeless. She heads for the building, alone.
INT. SPIN IT SKATING RINK – DAY
Torie enters the lobby as "What's Love Got To Do With It" by Tina Turner plays through the speakers. She's holding a pair of skates. It's another musical number.
She walks over the sitting area and puts on her skates. She skates around the lobby, lingering around then rolls into the rink.
She rolls and dances around the rink, lost in the music.
TORIE
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
The lights dim and the disco ball spins casting shiny lights around the rink.
TORIE
I've been taking on a new direction
But I have to say
I've been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way oh oh oh
What's love got to do, got to do with it...
Jaxson enters the building. He sees Torie in the rink. He waits by the break in the rink wall. She spins around and notices him watching. Rolls over to him.
JAXSON
You were in the zone. I didn't want to interrupt.
TORIE
I was just feeling the place out.
JAXSON
I wanted to thank you for inviting me. To be honest, I didn't even think I was still on the track.
TORIE
You think I'm that petty?
JAXSON
Nah. You were always the bigger person. Your girls are that petty.
TORIE
They're just looking out for me. I'm actually not supposed to be speaking to you right now.
JAXSON
That's not going to work. Because I heard you need a plus one and it looks like I'm your only option.
TORIE
Oh really?
JAXSON
Yes. I wrote those rhymes for you. Who else am I supposed to spit them to?
Smooth, but Torie's hip to his game.
TORIE
Okay. But this is strictly business.
JAXSON
Strictly business.
But the look on his face says otherwise.
