"Alison Maxwell, now aged twenty, was found to be mentally ill and was sent to a psychiatric hospital in New York this last Monday. Maxwell murdered seven young children, one being her own brother, in 1985 and 1986. She admitted to the brutal murders in Pine Hollow that shocked the country. I switched the television off and walked outside.

I looked around and took in the small town. Nothing would ever be the same here again but we were all trying to heal. Families lost a brother, a sister, a son, a daughter and friends lost them too. The entire town would be forever affected by Alison Maxwell. She took parts of their lives away that could never be replaced. Even though she wouldn't rot in a prison cell, she would rot in a hospital, dressed in white, and strapped down for the majority of the rest of her life. It wasn't justice, not even close but it was a closure. She could never hurt anybody ever again and I was okay with that.

Alison Maxwell could never hurt me again.
