Axon's POV

"you know," levy starts. "all that it would take is me watching this training session of theirs to learn all of their moves and create the perfect tactic to beat them." she says it in such and of handed way that it takes my brain a moment to register the implications of the idea.

"yes." i say at the same time as Lucy's no.

"there is also a rule in the rule book against spying on other teams." Auma's walking stick flies at Levy. she moves fast enough to block it, however it still leaves a red mark on her arm. "now pair up. Rouge and Axon, Lucy and Levy." The fighting stick in my hand feels light, like it belongs in my palm.

"come on Ax, you wont be winning against me this time." suddenly a dropping feeling sucks through me. gasping i clutch at my chest in surprise.

"Woah," Lucy tips forwards and Sting immediately jumps forwards to catch her.

"sorry," Lucy steadies herself, gripping onto Stings biceps. "i couldn't hold it for any longer."

"twenty seven minuets." Auma looks up from her stopwatch. "why don't you take a rest, Sting can verse Levy." so that's what it was. the warm feeling of Loke is gone, the power that was just fueling me has been torn away, leaving a dry and weak feeling in me.

"okay," nodding sully she steps back. Sting still hovers around her, looking down at her with a worried crease on his forehead.

"the rest of you can carry on." it wasn't a suggestion but more of a demand. giving Luce a once over, checking for any signs of injuries, i find myself leaning towards her. ready to help at the smallest sign of distress.

glancing to the side i find the other two in the same position. we're all gravitating around her, and i don't think it's just because of our connection. smiling softly i relax, taking a step back and gripping the staff. Lucy's managed to touch all of us in a way that we had never thought possible.

"come on, don't go thinking that i'm just going to be giving you the win." lightening the mood i watch in admiration as everyone relaxes.

"i would hope not." glancing at Lucy one last time, Rouge turns and strolls away. the rules of this match is no powers. anything else is on the table. including a surprise attack.

spinning the staff in my palm i duck forwards, going for the low cut, his feet. i'm a step away before he turns. with impressive speed and strength he jumps, propelling himself over my head and landing behind me.

already being close to the ground and expecting an attack from behind i go with the easiest option. rolling to a crouch and facing Rouge, who has already advanced to where i was just standing.

breathing out in relief i stand up. shaking off the attempt and holding out the staff in a defensive stance. Rouge comes at me and we clash. a flurry of movements. there is no time to think between attacks. left right, right left. i rely completely on instinct rather then observations.

Rouge doesn't falter, his years of training and honed abilities holding him up. that is where he has the advantage. his years of training compared to my coupe of months, almost a year if you count the times i had joined in with the group before i was part of their guild.

i need to turn the tide of the match before he overpowers me. moving my hands further apart on the staff i move quickly. knowing the he'd noticed the change and already knows what comes next.

blocking the next hit with the top end and dropping it down to hook behind his leg. using my body i push forwards, both of us going down. i close my eyes when we hit the ground. tensing to prepare for the force. it's not until i open them that i realize why that was a wrong move.
