Chapter 3: Family

Neo POV

I was lying on my bed with nothing to do. That's when I began to think about my recent encounter with Y/N. He was just like me with his mismatched eye colors. And he didn't seem to mind that I couldn't speak. I kept thinking about him until Roman walked in the room.

"Neo, don't forget we have a mission in a week," Roman says.

I gave him a thumbs up as he walked out the door.

'I wonder what Y/N is up to.'

Y/N POV

After another day of hard work and classes, I decided to go for a walk in the city.

"Maybe I'll find Neo around here," I say to myself.

I kept walking down the street until someone crashed into me, causing both of us to fall on our behinds.

"Why does this always happen?" I groan.

"Ohmygoshimsosorryareyouok?!" a girl's voice says.

"Ruby?" I realize.

"Oh hi Y/N!" Ruby said with a wide smile.

"What are you doing out here alone?" I ask.

"Well Blake decided to run off and we split up to find her."

"Well I guess I'll help you along the way then," I reply.

We continued to search throughout the city for Blake. However, the search came to a halt when Ruby's stomach growled loudly.

"Hungry?" I ask.

"Yeah...I haven't eaten for the whole day!" Ruby complains.

"You know what? I'm getting hungry too. How about we go for some cookies?" I ask with a smile.

"COOKIES?!! YESSSS!!!" Ruby jumps in excitement.

"I'm guessing you like cookies," I laugh.

"My mom's cookies were the best!"

"Bet they weren't as good as my mom's!" I say with my arms crossed.

"Are we gonna eat cookies or not?" Ruby pouts.

"Oh alright. Let's go, Cookie Monster," I say as I pat Ruby's head.

We found a nearby bakery and rushed right in. After overloading on cookies, we got back on track.

"You know, my mom would bake cookies for me when I was a kid. They were one of my fondest memories before she died," I say with a tinge of sadness.

"I''m so sorry," Ruby says, suddenly hugging me tightly.

"You actually remind me a lot of her, it's almost scary how much you look like her," I say.

"What was her name?" Ruby asks curiously.

"Summer Rose," I reply.

"Wait....."

"WHAT??!!!!!"

"Huh? What's wrong?" I ask, rubbing the back of my head.
