Thomas watched her walk away, having taken nothing from the entire shelf they'd walked past. When she vanished, he glanced down at the floor, hands tucked in his jeans pockets. He was frowning.
She accepted your apology. It's done. It's over.

He had completely forgotten his main reason for coming in here in the first place, abandoning his black coffee on the other shelf, cold and un-creamed. He didn't go back for it.
