They exited the convenience store at each other's side. Not exactly together, but, not apart either.
Then, awkwardly, they started to walk in the same direction; down the sidewalk, towards the end of the street. Thomas waited for her to purposely fall behind, or pick up her step to walk in front, just so they wouldn't be walking together.
But she didn't.
So they walked.
