"You don't have to do that," Regina insisted, feeling even more embarrassed than before. She cleared her throat, an awful sound, glancing down at the counter. "It's, uhh, it's just a drink."

"Well, I did spill your other one," he reminded, casting her a sidelong look. He was tall - too tall. His expression morphed into a sly, mocking smile. "Just let me pay for the damn thing."

Regina was speechless. She cleared her throat again, unsure.

When she finally nodded, Arnold took the bill and Thomas handed her the drink.

She didn't know what to say.

She eventually went with, "Thank you."

She didn't miss his quiet scoff, "You're welcome."
