(Y/n POV)

Journal entry |2|

Day two after the crash. I slept horribly, hearing the noises of animals and thunder. I got lucky it never rained though, at least not over me. I went to get breakfast this morning when I remembered I only had a week's supply of food and water. I hope someone finds me soon..

I closed the journal and sighed, looking back at the pantry that was holding my food. I had to eat and drink as sparingly as possible if I wanted to live, so I decided to eat once a day. Maybe I could find a stream, and I wouldn't have to worry about the water. I nodded and stood up, knowing my goals for today. 1, fix the roof the best I can, and 2, find some sort of body of water.

I looked over at the large piece of bark that I had found yesterday, now knowing to be more careful so I don't roll down the hill. I used my crutch to move the bark away from the hill, and picked it up. Smiling in victory, I walked to the pod and was able to get the roof fixed up pretty well. Now to find water.

*Time skip*

"I knew I was close to a stream!" I yelled as I saw the flowing water. It was maybe a 5 minute walk from the pod, and that was with the sprained ankle. I smiled at the running water, kneeling down next to it and cleaning my face. Man, I didn't realize how much ash was on my face. I got up, leaving a marker to show which way to go to reach the pod. I wanted to follow the stream upwards, maybe there was a lake or something.

I felt like I walked for hours when I finally found the stupid lake. Surprisingly, there were no animals at the lake, not even a bird or squirrel. I shrugged it off, walking around the lake the the small waterfall on the opposite side I was on. When I got close enough, I saw a little cave that didn't go very deep, but deep enough that you could call it a bedroom. I smiled. "And it's even got a bath and shower."

I walked into the water, my shorts barely higher than the water. Was I really going to get naked in the middle of the jungle? Uh, yeah. No one was around, and I desperatly felt the need to get cleaned after seeing the ash come off my face. I slid past the water fall and into the cave, deciding to get undressed in there. I'll admit, I was uncomfortable as I washed myself, but hey, you do what you gotta do.

After I felt clean, I put my clothes back on and got out of the cave. I decided that these would be my shower clothes. I didn't have to worry about getting them wet because I had two pairs of pants, 1 pair of shorts, 3 bras, 7 pairs of socks, 7 undies and 3 shirts besides these, so I was good. I also had another pair of shoes along with my suit boots, so I felt ok with getting these ones wet.

On my way back to the pod, I felt my stomach rumble. I looked up to see the position of the sun, seeing it was about half way in the sky. If I eat now, I'll wake up more hungry. But if I eat at sun down, I'll be full before bed, waking up with a semi full stomach. I nodded, making a pledge to myself to only eat at sun down. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't and I'll stay hungry, but my mind thought it was fool proof.

I found the marking, knowing to go left to get back to the pod. I was picking up more sticks for firewood and rocks, determined to make a fire tonight. I got back to the pod, setting the rocks in a cricle and put the sticks in them. I knew I had to dig a small hole, but I wanted to map it out first. Making my way back into the pod, I grabbed one of the bowls they had in there for cereal, and started digging out the pit for the fire.

I set it up again, and started rubbing two sticks together. I tried for 5 minutes. Then 10. Then 15. When I reached 20, I saw smoke start to appear. I smiled and kept going, unitl a flame was on the sticks. I quickly put one in the pit, hoping the others would catch and burn. I squealed excitedly as the fire grew. I made sure to find dead grass and leaves and more sticks on the fire to keep it going, and when I was satisfied it would keep going for a while, I went inside and went ot the pantry.

"What do I want for dinner?" I licked my lips, looking at all the food. I decided to go with sliced pears, knowing it tasted good and was healthy. I pulled up a rock next to the fire and set my wet clothes next to it to dry. I pulled a log close to it to, and sat down eating the pears. This is the first time in years I felt... relaxed. Maybe this whole 'crashing in an unfamiliar jungle with no way to get help or go home with only a small supply of food and a broken shelter' thing isn't so bad.
