(Y/n POV)
I woke up and decided I wanted to go out today. After the huge breakdown yesterday and letting out my feelings to Scrooge, I felt extremely happy and excited. I guess the stress from the Magica fight or something made me not me, but I sure felt better now.
I quickly grabbed my jacket, as it was fall now and it was chilly outside. The kids started school the other day, so I didn't have anything to do at home. I grabbed the money I had earned from Scrooge for doing some extra chores, and I quickly headed down the stairs.
I ran into the kitchen, grabbing two pieces of bread and a granola bar quickly, shoving one of the bread slices in my mouth. Scrooge tilted his head at me with a smile. "Why are you in such a hurry?" I smiled and swallowed the bread in my mouth. "I wanted to go out and explore the city. Can I?" Scrooge smiled. "Aye, but make sure ya have yer phone on ya." I held up the phone in the (f/c) case, the battery being fully charged.
I gave him a hug and I ran out of the room. "I'll be back later dad!" I didn't realize what I had said until I was out of the house, and I nearly died. After that whole breakdown yesterday, I still messed up. I shook my head to get my mind off of it, and somehow I successfully did. I walked down the hill of the mansion yard and went into the city. No need to worry about that right now, today is the day of (Y/n)!
A lot of people looked at me wth gross looks, but I didn't mind. I knew I was beautiful, no matter what anyone says. I've been trying to keep a positive attitude towards myself, and saying things like that helped, and I felt a little bit of truth sprout out behind it.
I smiled as I passed some people, waving and saying hello every once in a while. Some of them would smile and wave back, some would say hi, and others just totally ignored me or gave me a dirty look. I ended up in front of a clothing store, and I smiled to myself. I entered the store, and the people inside noticed quickly. A ton of the staff came up to me.
"You're (Y/n), right? The human living with Scrooge McDuck?" "Can I help you with anything?" "Would you like a discount!?" They all seemed nervous and eager to please me, and I felt anxious. "Uh, n-no it's alright. Just treat me like a regular customer please." They all nodded and agreed. "Of course!" "No problem!" "Just call us over if you need anything!" They all walked back to their posts, but kept glancing at me every now and then.
I tried ignoring the workers, but their looks were different. Instead of hating on me, they wanted me to feel amazing, and it was weird. I was used to the hate, not the great. Yeah, never saying that again. I ended up deciding to by an oversized tan hoodie, and some knew white converse. The lady at the counter seemed nervous to talk to me, and was offering me coupons and deals. Why were these people so eager to please me?
"I'm really alright with just paying full price, honest." She hesitantly took the money and handed me the receipt. I smiled and gladly took it, wishing her a good day and walked out with my things. It had gotten colder by the time I walked out, so I put the sweater on. I was stupid and didn't stop walking while putting it on, and I bumped into someone and we both fell to the ground with an 'oof!'
I quickly finished putting the sweater on and looked at the person I had bumped into. To my surprise, it was Fenton! I smiled as I saw him look at me. I stood up and held my hand out to him, and he gladly took it. "Sorry, I should've been watching where I was walking." He rubbed the back of his neck and responded. "It's no biggie." I smiled at him. "It's Fenton, right? Gyro's intern?"
"You remembered?" I chuckled and put my hands in my pockets. "Well, yeah. You're one of the first people I've met here. And I kinda nearly scared you to death." He smiled sheepishly. "Well, what can I say? It was a bit of a shock factor." We both chuckled, and I had an idea. "Hey, you wanna hang out? The kids are at school, and I've got nothing to do."
Fenton looked at me shocked for a moment, then turned to a sad, stressed look. "Believe me, I'd love to, but I'm running some errands for Gyro and need to get back quick." I tilted my head and smiled. "Want me to come with?" Fenton smiled. "Sure! We could get the stuff and back to the office twice as fast!"
I chuckled and walked down the sidewalk with Fenton, both of us getting to know each other. He's actually a really nice and funny guy. We talked about Duckburg, and he offered to show me around after his work. I told him yeah, but I had to make sure with Scrooge. He also told me about his family. He lives with his mom, who was a police officer. He doesn't know where his dad is, which I find kind of sad. How could you give life to such an amazing thing, then walk out of it's life? I saw the hurt in Fenton's eyes when he talked about his dad, so I tried to keep him off the topic.
We had been to many different stores, finding the supplies Gyro needed, and we started to head to the money bin. I felt a little nervous, since this is the place Magica nearly killed me and everyone I've come to love as my real family. I guess Fenton could sense my nerves, because he stopped walking and looked at me concerned. "Are you alright (Y/n)?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and smiled at him, nodding. "Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go in and get this stuff delivered." Fenton looked at me for a few more seconds with the same concerned look, then smiled a little and led me inside Scrooge's money bin.
