All the countries left to their rooms, saying it will be easier just in case one of them accidentally reveals themselves.
I made sure everything was cleaned up in the kitchen quickly, then ran to the door, opening it. I saw a women looking to be in her early forties with black hair that reached slightly past her shoulders, bright cobalt blue eyes, and light skin. Her red lips were in a frown, her arms crossed over her dark blue dress.
"Took you long enough." She huffed, walking through the doorway. I moved out of her way saying, "Yeah sure some right on in." I shut the door gently behind her.
"Oh please I am your mother. I don't need permission to enter your house." She said, waving her hand dismissively.
"Yes, your right, sorry mother." I said formally.
"Would you mind fixing some tea darling?" She asks, sitting on the couch and placing her purse next to her.
"Of course mother." I said obediently, hardly showing any emotion. I walked into the kitchen, grabbing some tea bags from the edge of the counter. "Which one would you like!?" I called out.
"Just some pomegranate tea is fine!" She called back. I grabbed some pomegranate tea bags, then got a kettle and put it on the stove turning it up on high. I sighed, the happiness I experienced earlier, disappearing in an instant, as a monotone look came to my face. "She always bring the sociopath in me." I mumbled.
Britain's POV
I peeked my head out of the hallway along with Russia, Soviet, France, Poland, and South. I look across the hallway seeing America, Reich, Germany, North and Phil doing the same thing we were.
"Looks like they had the same idea." Poland commented, noticing the group straight ahead.
"Why are we doing this again? Shouldn't we give (Y/N) and her mother some privacy?" I questioned, looking over at Soviet.
"Because we can learn more about her and her family." Soviet answered, not taking his eyes off of the living room.
"Also I want to see why (Y/N) is so ... tense whenever she mentions her mother." Russia states.
"I'm curious of why that is as well." I commented.
"She told me is was because her mother is very judge mental and basically questions everything she does and criticize it." France informed.
"Shh all of you, (Y/N) is coming back." Soviet order. We all peeked back around the corner, looking back down to see (Y/N) placing a tray of tea in front of her mother.
"Thank you dear." Her mother said with a nod, grabbing a white glass cup. Her mother took a small sip as (Y/N) sat down next to her. "So How has work been going?" She asks.
"Work is going good. A few bumps here and there... but overall normal." (Y/N) said in a monotone voice that I've never heard from her before.
"Good, you see you are cut out for that type of work. It's way better than that disgusting animal job." Her mother said, taking another sip of her tea.
"Saving animals isn't disgusting mother." (Y/N) snapped, glaring daggers at her mother. "It's noble of a human being caring for other species other than themselves."
Her mother rolled her eyes, "Whatever. I'm just glad you have gotten off that path." She took another sip of tea asking, "Did anything exciting happen recently?"
"No mother, nothing of interest."
Poland's POV
"No mother, nothing of interest." She replied cooly.
I was still shocked by her tone, even her body language was rigid... similar to a robot. Her eyes dull, no sparkle in them, they looked even darker red than normal without their sparkle.
"She looks almost... dead." I hear America comment silently.
"Oh come on dear! There has to be something! Did you and that Benjamin boy get together yet? You two would be a match made in heaven in my opinion!" (Y/N)'s mother rambled, causing (Y/N) to choke on her tea, almost spitting out the tea entirely. I could feel something deep inside of me rage, anger taking over me at the mention of (Y/N) being with someone else. I then froze, wait why am I even angry at that? She can do what she wants!
"(Y/N)! Please act like a lady in my presence." Her mother said firmly, snapping my attention back to their conversation.
"Sorry mother. To answer your question, no. Me and Benjamin haven't gotten together." (Y/N) answered, once recovering the comment from her mother.
Her mother sighed, "Seriously darling you should ask that man out. He's very hard working, smart, clever, and not to mention handsome."
"Mother please stop." (Y/N) mumbled, placing her cup full of tea down on the table.
"I know you have some interest in him. Don't think I don't see the way you look at him." Her mother continued with a grin.
"Mother! I don't like Benjamin! He's my brothers best friend for God's sake!" (Y/N) retorted, her tone sending a shiver down my spine.
"Exactly! You two would be perfect!" Her mother said cheerfully, ignoring (Y/N)'s small outburst. Jeez... her mom really doesn't seem to care about her opinion on things.
(Y/N) just rolled her eyes, slouching in the couch. "Whatever." She mumbled in her monotone voice. I could tell she was used to this, her eyes already showing exhaustion and it only had been twenty minutes since her mom arrived.
"(Y/N) don't slouch, your going to damage your back! Not to mention-" I didn't hear the rest as I felt something scaly brush past my hands.
I look down seeing none other than Echo slithering past me, heading towards the stairs. I didn't think anything of it, already used to the boa appearing out of the blue.
I then looked back up... or really a little bit up since I was looking downward watching the conversation.
Then it clicked in my head... there was a reason (Y/N) put Echo in her enclosure. I reached out for the snake quickly, trying to grab her tail. I fell on the ground, making a thump noise as I missed her tail.
The countries were focused one me, giving me glares as I broke the one thing (Y/N) told us not to do when her mom was here.
"What was that?" I heard her mother question. I froze in place, afraid that if I move she would somehow notice my presence.
"Probably some cleaning supplies upstairs falling over." (Y/N) said, sounding as if the sound was normal.
I scurried back over to where I was quietly. "Dude what were you doing?" Phil questioned. "Are you trying to give us away?" North added.
"Echo." Was all I could say as I watched the snake disappear out of sight as she went down the stairs.
"What about Echo? (Y/N) locked her in her..." America trailed off as he saw the light brown stripped boa pop her head out into view. "Oh no." Germany and America mumbled.
Your POV
I felt relief overcome me as my mother believed my little, 'it was probably jus the cleaning supplies' story.
"Sweetheart you should really wear better clothes, what would happen if the paparazzi took your picture in that!?" She questioned, her tone was laced with disgust.
"Then they would know I'm human too and I like my clothes thank you very much." I replied, crossing my arms. It feels like hours, I looked at my watch to only see it has been thirty minutes at least.
"Well I think you should at least wear something decent. Like honestly, how are you ever going to get a guys attention with an outfit like that?" Mother questioned, shaking her head in disapproval.
I rolled my eyes thinking, 'I practically live with eleven guys and they don't mind my outfits.'
"You shouldn't based on liking someone by their looks... also I believe I got many compliments with this outfit." I replied coldly.
"Hmm by who? The middle class? Honestly you need to raid your standards." My mother commented. "How about that one boy... Anderson I think his name is! I can arrange a date for you two."
"I'm not dating that rich brat! He is shellfish and a snob! All he cares about is himself." I argued, giving her a deadly glare that would normally scare anyone away if they annoy me to much.
My mother simply huffed, "I don't know why you must be so difficult. He has money, comfort, and he has looks. Honestly your priorities are all messed up."
"My priorities are just right mother." I responded, leaning back against the cushions.
"Honestly, I feel like I have to do every-AAAHHH!" Mother all of a sudden screamed.
Everything seemed to slow down as her foot was raised and plummeted down towards something by her feet. I look down to see Echo's long body just slithering by.
I thought quickly, moving forward, my hand being placed right under her heels, stopping her from stomping on Echo. Then time seemed to run normally as Echo slithered away quickly and I felt a sharp pain in my hand.
I ignored the pain as I let go of her heel saying, "Mom calm down it was just Echo trying to say hello."
My mother stood up, looking around wildly, "Why won't you just get rid of that... that... beast!" She screamed out.
I stood up calmly saying, "Because she is my pet, that's why."
"She's a dreadful creature! She dangerous too! She could kill you in your sleep and you wouldn't even know it was happening till it was too late!" My mother protested, glaring daggers in my direction.
"Echo would never do such a thing. She's a cinnamon roll and loves people and scaring them." I retorted calmly.
"I wish your brother never gave you that thing!" My mother said angrily.
My eyes hardened, "Echo was one of the most happiest gifts I have ever received! I will never get rid of her."
"I doubt that! Your brother was mistaken giving you that beast! Just like how he was constantly always bringing trouble-"
I interrupted her, my voice raised, "Hunter did everything to help people and animals! Everything he did was kind and selfless! Unlike you who was always judgmental and selfish!"
A smack was all that was heard in the large mansion. My face was pointed to the side, my eyes shadowed, and my cheek stung slightly. Nothing could be heard, everything seeming to freeze once again.
"You don't know anything you ungrateful, emotionless brat!" My mother growled, her hand still in the air from when she slapped me. "You are my greatest mistake." She said with so much bitterness and anger.
She then seem to freeze herself, realizing what she just said. "Dear I'm-"
"Get out." I grumbled lowly.
"W-What?" She asked, he hand retracting to her side.
"I said." I look up at her, my eyes burning with rage making them look like red flames dancing in them. "Get. Out."
She flinched at my tone, clearly not used to hearing really any emotion in my voice. She complied, picking up her purse and leaving the house. I hear the door shut, then I allowed a uneven breath to escape me.
I heard someone run down the stairs then slowed down as they got to me. I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turn around seeing Russia with a small smile on his face.
I give him a sad look, then looked behind him to see the others. I shrug off his hand saying, "Cinnamon rolls are on the stove, help yourselves."
I walked up the stairs, walking past the others without a word. "(Y/N)." I hear Poland mumble.
I ignore him and walked into my bedroom, shutting the door behind me. I then slid down the door, then sobbed to my hearts content.Author note
