Abigail's POV
I walk out of the office with miss (L/N)'s phone in hand. I look back at her office in concern, she didn't look too happy to see that woman.
I shook my head thinking, 'I have a task to complete.' I was about to text the person that called her, noticing the name was America.
'Strange name?' I thought before opening up the phone. There was no password, either she didn't have anything important on it or she doesn't care.
Her home screen picture was her alongside with a man with black hair and cobalt blue eyes. 'That must be her brother.' I thought with a smile.
Then the number called again, sending the phone in a buzzing frenzy. I answered it without thinking saying, "Hello?"
There was silence for a moment before a male voice asked, "Who is this?" I felt beads of sweat begin to run down my face, he sounded angry. Did I say something wrong?
"U-um I'm Abigail, m-miss (L-L/N)'s assistant. How can I h-help you?" I stuttered out nervously.
"Can I speak to (Y/N)?" He asks, this time his tone was calm. 'So he isn't an employee? Maybe he's a friend of hers or another chairmen of a different company?' I thought.
"She is busy at the moment with a personal meeting. She'll call you right back once she is finished!" I said cheerfully. Yes! I didn't stutter.
I hear a sigh of relief, "Alright thank you."
"No problem sir!" Then the call ended. I giggled a little, a mischievous glint sparkled in my brown eyes. He sounded worried over her, awww! I'm so going to ask her about it!
Your POV
"I'm just saying (Y/N), this can really benefit the company." My aunt argued, seeming to get more frustrated as time goes on.
"Like I said many times before, I am not having this company create weapons for the army. This is not how my brother envisioned this company to be." I responded calmly, using my famous monotone voice.
"Your brother isn't here! It is you, your choice not his!" Patricia practically screamed.
I sighed, "I made a promise to him that I will make his vision become a reality. Creating weapons doesn't fall in that category."
Aunt Patricia scoffed, "Who cared about a dead mans vision. This is the sake of the company we are talking about!"
That ticked me off, I stood up slamming my hand on the desk. Patricia visibly flinched, her eyes widening in fear. "I know what I'm doing, if I didn't this company would have crumbled as soon as I took the position." I growled, glaring right at her.
She seemed to look smaller, slouching slightly trying to avoid somehow get away from me. Thank you red eyes for making me intimidating.
"I know that dear, and I'm sorry about my little comment. But still-"
"No means no Aunt Patricia." I interrupted her, sitting back down in my chair. Echo, who was curled on top of the desk, slithered over to me. She licked my hand to say in her own way "pet me". I begin to run my fingers over her scales as I ask, "Now is that all you came for?"
"I heard your boyfriend has gotten out of jail... how are you coming along?" She asked, daring to even sound concerned.
I stopped stroking Echo, frozen in place. I look up at her, "He is not my boyfriend." Even Echo responded to Patricia's comment, baring her fangs at her, letting out a loud hiss.
Patricia flinched again, before she could say anything I ordered, "Get out."
     "I'm sorry what-"
"I said... GET OUT!" I said firmly, glaring her down. She immediately scurried off, the door closing behind her.
Echo turned to lace me once she left, letting up her head and rubbing it against my cheek. I smiled at her, beginning to stroke her once again.
There goes another family member, only two remain left by my side. My father's family wanted nothing to do with me and my brother, talking about how spoiled we were and how we will always have a perfect life.
It never bothered me, nothing really has. But I still remember my brother crying every night because of it, wondering what he did wrong. I comforted the best I could, but didn't feel anything when I did it.
How how much I wish I could, How I wish I was born with feeling instead of trying to force them to come out.
My mother's family was very supportive, until I followed my brother at least. Then ... we lost contact. Grey wasn't even allowed to see me much less contact me, of course he did anyway. He never was obedient.
I had no one, expect Benjamin and my aunt. She didn't help much though, trying to force me to come up with new companies.
But I guess we all have a family member like that.
"Miss (L/N)?" A concern voice questioned.
I look up to see Abigail, her brown orbs sparkling in concern. "Yes Abigail?"
"Are you ok? You seem... sad." Abigail asked, stepping up to the desk.
'Sad? I never felt sadness, am I sad?' I wondered. I've seen sadness, but never felt it. I just go numb whenever I'm supposed to be sad I guess.
"No, no I'm fine. When is the next meeting again?" I asked, allowing Echo to slither up to my shoulder.
"Um in a few minutes miss... on the tenth floor." Abigail answered, the concern in her eyes not leaving.
"Thank you. You can go have your lunch break if you want." I said, then walked out. Everyone's stares were on me as I walked towards the elevator.
     Then the whispers started.
    "Did you see what happened?"
"What did she do this time?"
"I heard that was her aunt... I wonder what she said to her?"
"Maybe she didn't like how her aunt was talking to her."
"I think it's about time she gets knocked down a few pegs."
"She's such a brat... even her own family can't put up with her."
"She doesn't deserve to be here. Someone like her doesn't deserve to be in the position she's in."
"She's heartless, emotions less even. She just fakes it all out."
Ba thump, ba thump. What... what is this? This pain in my chest?
"I bet her brother would be highly disappointed in her. Selfish and cruel."
'Make it stop! It hurts!' The walk to the elevator seemed longer than usual.
    "I don't think that's true."
"What do you mean!? Just look what she did to her aunt! Her own aunt! Who does that!?"
I finally made it to the elevator, the doors opened, I stepped in. Pressing the button to make the doors close faster.
I clenched my fist, tears pricking the edges of my eyes. 'I don't understand? Is this pain normal? Do I need to get to the hospital?' I thought, my hands trembling slightly without my knowledge.
'No! This is just ... stress. Yes just stress. Let's calm down.' I took deep breaths in and out. Pushing the strange feeling down, regaining my composure. I hear that sort of comments everyday... I don't know why it stressed me out so much now?
The doors opened by the time I returned my composure, my eyes stern and cold. I walked through the halls, opening the doors to the meeting room. Chatter stopped, all eyes turned to me. "Let's get this started shall we?"
Abigail's POV
I still stood in miss (L/N)'s office, thinking about what I saw. Her red eyes were dimmed, her lips were in a frown, I notice tears seemed to form in her eyes. She looked like ... someone who lost their fire.
That was until I snapped her out of her daze. She regained her composure rather quickly, then walked out before I could even talk more about the matter.
Maybe I should tell Benjamin what happened. I walked out of the office, heading towards Benjamin's office which is right next door. I heard coworkers begin to whisper about the incident, very little were concerned about miss (L/N), which I guessed were the senior workers, while the rest were beginning to spread false rumors and trash talk her.
I glared around the room, before walking into Benjamin's office. "Abigail, What is it now?" Benjamin questioned coldly.
I pretty much figured out that's his usual persona unless he is excited or concerned about something. He was very easy to read and understand.
"It's about miss (L/N) sir. A woman came by earlier-"
His head shot up from his papers, "What did she look like?"
"Um... (s/c), (h/c), and golden eyes." I said, I didn't get a good look at the woman, except she looked a little like miss (L/N). Wait... was that her mother!? Did I just meet her mother!?
Benjamin let out a groan, "Great it's her again, no doubt coming back for the same reason as last time." He leaned back in his chair. "I bet (Y/N) is more annoyed now."
"Um... not exactly. She seemed... sad sir." I told him, shuffling my feet slightly.
He looked at me in surprise, "Sad? She seemed sad?" He gave me a confused look, as if it was hard to believe.
Hasn't she been sad before? Why is that so strange?
"Yes sir, her eyes were dull and tears looked as if they were going to fall. When I asked if she was ok... she seemed to snap out of it then acted as if everything was fine." I explained to him, he seemed to go into deep thought.
Benjamin's POV
Huh, those countries are really doing somthin to her huh? Unless... she's finally reached her limit with her family's bull.
Or maybe.... she's feeling more alone and unwanted. Being used too much can take a toll on any person, emotion less or not.
Ugh! Where is Hunter when this stuff happen!? I begin to rub my temples in distress, taking off my glasses as I did so. What am I supposed to do?
"Who was that woman sir?" Abigail asked, seeming hesitant on asking the question.
"She was (Y/N)'s aunt, named Patricia. Her visits have become quiet the annoyance for both me and (Y/N). Constantly wanting us to expand into the weapons industry." I explained, looking up at Abigail.
She nodded in understanding. "Did Patricia look angry?" I asked, knowing the answer but I had to make sure.
Abigail shook her head, "No sir, she looked rather afraid."
"Huh... so (Y/N) finally snapped at her... but why?" I mumbled to myself.
"I... um.. I heard something about a boyfriend?" Abigail informed, looking down at her feet in embarrassment.
"What!?" I questioned, my tone turning aggressive quick.
Abigail flinched, "I'm sorry sir, I-I was entering the room t-to tell miss (L/N) h-her meeting was going to start in a few minutes! I didn't m-mean to ease drop I swear!"
I felt anger course through my veins, how dare Patricia to call him that! She knows exactly what he's done!
"It's alright Abigail your not in the wrong in this instant." I told her, my tone still holding aggressiveness.
"Who... who is he?" She asked, sounding curious.
I let out a sigh, she's going to find out sooner or later anyway is he continues on pursing (Y/N). "He is a person who brought a lot of pain to (Y/N)'s life. He physically and emotionally abused her, that's all you need to know." I answered coldly. Abigail gasped in shock, covering her mouth, her eyes widened.
I had this weird hunch, something telling me something wasn't right. I then begin typing into the computer, logging into the surveillance cameras into the elevator. I played back the footage to see (Y/N) enter the elevator, gripping her chest. Then she let her arms dropped to her eyes, his hands clenched into fists almost instantly. She was trembling slightly, holding back tears and seeming to push the emotion down.
This is her first time experiencing something like this, she doesn't know how to handle it. I groaned, watching her leave the elevator in her "boss look".
"W-What should we do?" Abigail stuttered out. I just noticed she was watching over my shoulder.
"I think I know someone that might help." I said. I noticed the look in his eyes when he met Grey, they were of understanding and wasn't shocked by the way he spoke or acted. He may know of her little ... emotional problem.
"I just don't know how to contact him, I don't have his number." I let out a groan. I only had two of the countries numbers, Germany and America. That was it.
A phone was handed to me, I recognized it as (Y/N)'s. "How did you get this?" I asked, taking the phone from her.
"She gave it to me to tell me to tell her friend that she's busy when he was calling." Abigail answered with a small smile.
I nodded, finding the contact I needed. I dialed the number, the phone ringed for a few seconds before someone picked up, "Hello?" Said a Russian accented voice.
"Hey, Russia it's me Benjamin. I have something to ask you."
