this is common among all fandoms, but i've decided to add it in this story anyways 'cause i see this happen in bmw fanfics too.
one of the most important things in fanfics is how well the story flows. the events that happen in your fanfic need to happen at a normal speed; things can't be happening too fast but it also shouldn't take twenty chapters for something to happen. nobody likes reading fanfics where it takes way too long for something to happen because it will get boring, and when things happen too quickly, some readers will feel too rushed and some might even get confused.
for example, i've read some fanfics where it takes the girl ten whole ass chapters before she even starts talking to the guy and it's like

and then there's some fanfics where in only the first chapter, the girl meets the boy and they immediately get each other's phone numbers, then in chapter two they start talking and maybe even go out on a date, then BOOM they start dating in chapter three.

your readers don't exactly know much about your world/story/characters yet, so don't rush things but p l e a s e don't take like twenty chapters just for one thing to happen i'm BEGGING y'all
TIPS 1) read through your drafts again. you may think the events in your fanfic is happening at a normal speed, but your readers may not.
2) things definitely don't just happen in the first chapter, so please don't make the big things happen that early in the story. wait until either chapter three or four for the big/good events.
