one thing that really concerns me is how huge the age gaps are in some fanfictions. i've read a few bmw fanfics/imagines where the oc is like 13-14 and she starts dating a boy who's around 18-20. this one time i came across a bmw fanfic where the girl (who was like 14 and a freshman in high school) meets shawn at a party and the two eventually start dating, and this whole story was set in season six of bmw.

BITCH SHAWN WAS A 18-20 YEAR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT IN SEASON SIX!! YOU'RE REALLY GONNA HAVE SOMEONE AT THAT AGE GO OUT WITH A 14 YEAR OLD HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN AND HAVE THEM DOING ADULTEROUS AND POSSIBLY ILLEGAL FESTIVITIES?!? I THINK TF NOT.

i usually don't mind if the age gap of characters is around 3-5 years, but anything higher than that is kinda concerning to me, especially if the characters are teenagers/young adults (eg. 13 year old dating a 21 year old). if your characters are adults however, then i guess the age gap doesn't really matter; even though reading about a 25 year old dating a 50 year old is kinda weird to me.

i recommend not writing fanfics like a high school freshman starts dating shawn, a 21 year old college student or high school sophomore cory falls for a 24 year old woman and they eventually start dating. it's weird and a lot of people don't like reading about that stuff.

i'm not gonna lie, i read part of that shawn fanfiction and i've never been so uncomfortable in my life. like they were 14 and 20 and throughout almost the entire story, they were doing things people that age should NOT be doing together. come on y'all. stop it. get some help.
