(Wendigo x Reader)- Warning! This one is gory! It includes cannibalism, death, and plenty of other stuff so forewarning!

"Hey (y/n), look at this" Calls Alex from the edge of the camp, gesturing to the outlook of a beautiful sunset over the lake, canoes pulled up onto the shore of the small peninsula that you had made camp on. The horizon was beautiful, a perfect reflection in Windigo Lake. You step up to the edge beside him and smile at the beautiful picturesque view before the two of you.

"Kris! Caleb! Come over here!" You call over your shoulder to the other two that had been finishing up the tents and hear the pounding of footsteps come after you. Without taking your eyes off the sky, you can feel your friends squeezing between you and the next tree.

"Wooow, I never thought nature could actually be this pretty." Whispers Kris, who hadn't wanted to come on the trip when Alex had first suggested it to you a few months previously. Kris wasn't much of an outdoorsy gal and it had taken much convincing to have her come with them on a canoe trip to the other side of the Great Lakes and camp on a nearly deserted peninsula for a fun, beginning of the summer activity.

Kris, Caleb, Alex, and you all went to the same college and were the best of friends, you had the feeling that Alex had constantly been trying to get the two of you alone for the duration of the trip, but you had avoided it the entire time. First choosing to canoe with Kris, which had been a mistake because she did none of the work, and then chosen the farthest tent from his so you could avoid being alone at all costs.

You loved Alex, but he was your best friend, and you didn't want that to change. Originally he had only asked you to go with him on the trip until you had begged him to invite the others in your small friend group.

"Yeah, greeaat " Caleb voices his sarcasm " can we do something about the bugs though?" He asks, slapping hard against his arm to destroy the mosquito that had been trying to penetrate and devour him.

Laughing a little you shake your head at him, turning to go and grab the bug spray from one of the bags you had brought.

"Here, I got it." Alex says, directly behind you, your heart skipping several beats since you didn't hear him sneaking up behind you. Reaching out, he takes the bug spray from your hand, his rough fingers brushing your own as you shudder ever so slightly, the feeling raising goosebumps and shivers along your forearm, your breath catching in your throat. Bestfriend, just a best friend, you swore to yourself, blushing crimson as you realized that you hadn't moved since he had taken the bug spray from your hand.

Breathing slowly to get the feeling back in your limbs, you stand up straight and move towards the fire that had been started a while ago, Kris already roasting her hotdog on one of the sharpened sticks that they had made earlier. Alex was stabbing his ferociously to get it through the center so he could roast it. Moving quickly you grab the stick that you had created, a little crooked but sharp enough to cook something on, you stick it through the center of one of the sausages and lean over to begin cooking it on the open flames.

"Oh come on, you guys started without me!" Whined Caleb as he came back with the bug spray, pouting pathetically as he grabs his own sticks and stabs another one of the sausages to roast over the fire.

Laughing at his melodramatic flare, the rest of you finish cooking up your dinner and then a little dessert of marshmallows and s'mores for some fun. As the fire began to die out and Caleb and Kris went to bed, you and Alex were the last ones around the fire.

"Well, it's getting late, I think I should go ahead and turn in." You say, rather quickly as you realize the situation that you two were now in. The rosy glow of the embers hid your faintly pink cheeks as Alex poked the fire with his roasting stick, stirring it up into a few smaller flames as he doesn't even glance at you, nodding just slightly as he indicates that he heard you. You can't help but feel a little sad that he doesn't say good night to you.
