*3rd P.O.V*
All the occupants in the room heard her whimper and back away. Eric's wolf howled loudly in his head and he lowered his head. It hurt him to see his mate so vulnerable.
Elizabeth had seen the bruises and scarring on her son's mate's body and she had some idea of what happened to the little scared girl. She knew that her son was hurting but she couldn't do anything. No one could give him answers, only his mate could.
'Mom?' Eric asked his mother, desperation clear in his voice. He needed answers. If his mate was scared of him then the only other person who could give him answers right now was his mother. He saw the scars and bruises on her skin which was visible.
He felt sadness bloom inside him as he thought of the different scenarios where his mate could've gotten them. Of course the sadness was followed by anger and raw bloodlust. He wanted to kill whoever hurt his mate.
But what he didn't know is that his mate misunderstood his feelings. Victoria was scared, no doubt but to everyone else in the room, this was a sign of rejection.
"P-p-please d-don't." Victoria stuttered, her voice filled with pain. She could feel her mate's hurt but she was in no state of mind to comfort him. To hold him close and vow never to leave him. She couldn't do that and her wolf, besides the confusion, was itching to do so.
Eric felt his heart break at his mate's words. Someone had hurt her that much was clear. But why? Why would someone hurt such a beautiful female?
"D-don't what?" Eric stuttered, afraid of what was going to happen next. Was he really going to get rejected? His first mate had died in a plane crash. Seems cliché but it happened.
Eric knew that his mate was cheating on him even after they recognised each other's as mates. He also knew that she was a complete bitch to all the pack members even the elders and children but he was too in love with her to notice it.
The pack members hated their Luna. She used to; sorry she was the pack slut the whole time. She would flirt with guys in front of Eric but he could care less. He was just blind in love. Everyone had breathed a huge sigh of relief when they got the news that she was dead but their Alpha was a good person and they did mourn for him.
Adam, his beta and his sister Riley's mate was hurting for his Alpha along with James and John who were unmated. They knew how much Eric had hurt when his first mate died, on a personal level.
They had seen him destroy his own office and room. They heard his wolf howling and they saw their Alpha reduced to nothing.
Victoria had heard of Alpha Eric's first mate dying in a plane crash. She knew that he felt as if he was being rejected but he wasn't. Victoria would never intentionally hurt her mate. She was just too scared at the moment.
The scars were too fresh.
"They hated me. All of them. Even him..." Victoria shakily trailed off. Eric's head snapped up at the melodic voice of his mate. He heard the pain in her voice. The other four occupants in the room were watching closely and listening intently.
"He didn't d-die..." Victoria again trailed off. She could only say a few words without almost breaking down. She had to be strong.
But she couldn't.
She lost her mate, her family and her unborn child. Her mate had publicly announced another female as his mate. Her own sister...
All the occupants in the room gasped. They somewhat understood now. Her mate didn't die. He rejected her. That's why she hid herself from Eric. Not because she was rejecting him, no, but because she was scared that Eric would reject her.
"He looked at me just like t-that... and h-he he u-used me..." Victoria started crying now, silently. She willed for her mate to understand her actions.
"He was ashamed to be mated to me. He was an Alpha too... I shouldn't expect anything but rejection. That's what he did. That's what my sister did. That's what my pack did."
They could feel the shame radiating off of Victoria whilst Eric just growled.
"The children and the elders didn't hate me. My brother didn't hate me. My parents didn't hate me and yet they did. He announced it to the whole pack that my sister was his mate."
And then Victoria began telling them everything. They were surprised to know that her mate was the Alpha and that she was the Beta's daughter and even more surprised on learning that she actually came from an Alpha bloodline.
Elizabeth recognised Victoria's parent's name. "Wait your parent's are Lily and Gordon Phase!?" Liz shouted eagerly, to which Victoria shyly nodded.
She had broken down when she told them of her pregnancy and about her losing her child. Eric was mad, to say the least but he remained calm for his mate who needed him. He held her closely in his arms which seemed to have calmed them both down immensely.
Liz was happy when she saw how content her son was with his second-chance mate. She, herself had hated her son's first mate because she was rude to Liz. Liz knew that Tori would be a different change to the pack.
A good change.
Adam, James and John looked at their Alpha, who had this loving spark in his eyes. One which he had lost after his first mate died. They also saw their new Luna who was so full of bright energy, one which wasn't present when she was telling her story.
Liz was even more excited because she and Gordon had been good friends since her father was Gordon's father's Beta.
"Your father's father used to be my Alpha. My father was his Beta and Gordon and I used to be best friends and when he found Lily, she and I became even better friends."
To say Tori was surprised would be an understatement. "Oh... now that I think about it, I think they mentioned your name once or twice but I can't really remember because my brother, sister and I had moved into the pack house early and my parents were almost always overseas, visiting other packs on behalf of my old pack."
Liz was even happier when she learnt that her best friends in the entire world hadn't forgotten about her.
"So you're... not going to reject me?" Tori asked in a small voice. This question had been bugging her since Eric held her close. She was honestly confused but she knew that if he rejected her then she would kill herself. She wouldn't be able to deal with the pain.
Whatever control Eric had on his wolf was lost that very moment. His wolf was furious that his mate had such a low self-esteem.
She should've had more faith in her mate
Eric and his wolf knew of only one way of assuring their mate.
Eric let his wolf take over and watched as he pulled away and placed his hand on her shoulder and nuzzling his face in her neck and tilting it to get better access before letting his canines come out and bite into her neck.
Tori felt the sparks where Eric touched her and her heart began to race. She didn't know what to do so she just sat back and watched as Eric marked her.
She felt a little pain when the skin broke under Eric's teeth but pleasure soon replaced the pain and her wolf let out a big whoop as her last bonds with her last mate broke loose and her body gave in to the darkness because of her emotional overdrive.
All the pack members felt the presence of their new Luna and because of the vulnerable state of her mind; they saw everything about her past and her conversations in the pack hospital. They celebrated their Alpha finding his second true mate and they knew that Tori wouldn't be a stuck up bitch like Eric's first mate had been. They were all excited and happy.
