Clementine

Lucky for Clementine, her sprain healed within the time period of the examination break. Before she knew it she was able to run, walk, and walk wherever she wanted, She can only hope her left leg would get the rest she needed.

Gradually, she got better. With Louis helping her take medicine, feeding her if she felt weak, heck— washing her back late at night. There was some decency between them. So Louis' eyes were closed shut the entire time, blindfolded even, But he got the job done.

But even though all was well, and she felt healed eventually, the chill that came from her spine just came back out of nowhere. The chill she'd get at least everytime it was that year.

Oh yeah, she forgot. Soon enough it'll be her 17th birthday. And Nobody has an idea— but meaning her birthday would come to her reach meant it was going to be the anniversary of her parents died. It was an insult to say that 'I'm the only one alive from that car crash, but I aged a year older.'

It felt ridiculous, disgusting to her. That she rather not do anything but just lay in bed, eat regular food and pay some respect to them. It made her stomach twist, it made the hairs on her body stand up, and it gave her the shivers.

The last thing she wanted was Louis to figure out her birthday, her birthday can pass without them knowing. It has happened before in Richmond, so it can happen again.

During breakfast, the air was silent, until Lee cleared his throat "AJ, Clementine's turning 17 in a few days." AJ's eyes turned to the girl, who was silent. His eyes glittered "So she's getting older?" Lee hummed, AJ figured that he'd make something.

But he knew that she hated birthdays "Are we going to eat cake and eat somewhere special this year?" Clementine's body froze, she tensed up. It's not necessary She told herself, sure! It was sad that they didn't but she rather not celebrate.

Her parents died around her birthday and it'd be like shitting in their cereal if she was happy she's alive. She gradually got used to not celebrating after turning 9.

Clementine sighed "I'm sorry AJ, but I don't think so." Carley looked at Clementine from the kitchen, her and Lee were planning on buying cake and throwing her a party. Hell she didn't even celebrate for turning 16, Or 10– or 13.

"Sweetpea, you have to be happy." Lee sighed "Aren't you glad that you're alive?"

"No," Clementine shot back, sounding bitter for the first time "It should be them breathing for years later, not me." She whispered. Lee gave a sad expression and placed a hand on the top of her head "You may think they aren't here because of you. But I bet they'd be devastated if you weren't alive and they were. They'd want you to live." It was unbelievable

"Dad, it's my birthday. It'd be a different story if it was AJ's or someone else's. But take it as a request that you don't do anything again. Not this year— or any other year that i'm living." Clementine turned back to AJ as they watched cartoons. Lee was a little taken back by what she said. But he'll have to respect her wishes, but that doesn't mean she won't get anything.

Louis

Louis was casually talking to the group chat, the one with Violet and Marlon only though, not the lunch table group. His phone buzzes as he sees a notification "Louis, it's going to be Clementine's birthday soon." Louis checked the time, and the date. October 23. In a matter of days it'd make her 17.
