Garroth woke up, gasping for air. He looked around and realized he was in his room so he relaxed and slowed down his breathing. "You had the nightmare again, didn't you?" The figure at the end of his bed asked. Garroth nodded his head. He checked the time, only nine in the morning. Garroth sighed and put his head back down on his pillow to collect his thoughts. He turned his head just to look around his room but instead saw the figure that was at the edge of his bed laying next to him. "Are you okay?" The familiar voice asked.

"No, I'm not okay! I don't think I'll ever be okay if I have to keep seeing you die every night!" Garroth didn't mean to snap. "Laurence I...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you." Laurence got up from the position he was in laying next to Garroth and walked around the room with a slight frown on his face. Garroth got up too and went to open the curtains. The warm light of the sun filled the room. "You should go and hang out with someone today," Laurence suggested. Garroth shook his head like he usually did when Laurence suggested this. Garroth began to dig through his drawers to find clothes to wear for the day. He then began to change in front of Laurence. Laurence stared at Garroth's bare torso, "You got awfully skinny. Have you been eating alright?"

"I eat as much as my body tells me it needs to."

"But you're never hungry"

"Yes, so no I don't eat often."

There was silence. Garroth walked out of the room and headed downstairs to find Zane watching television on the couch. Zane saw him, "Are you hungry? I made breakfast if you-" Garroth cut Zane off, "No, I'm not hungry." Zane frowned, "Garroth you said that yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that."

"Zane, I've already had this conversation once this morning. I don't need to have it again."

"Again? Who did you talk to about it?

"...No one..."

Zane frowned and watched his brother leave the house. His concern for Garroth grew with each passing day.

Garroth walked along the sidewalk. He had grown distant from his friends but he still said hi to them and asked how they were. He kept walking along the sidewalk passing Travis's and Dante's house and the "For Sale" sign in front of the house. Travis moved in with Katelyn and Dante had left without a trace. Garroth passed by Aphmau's house and Garroth called out to her to say hi. She waved in response with an obviously forced smile on her face. "Garroth..." She said quietly, "How are you...y'know...holding up?" Garroth simply smiled and said, "I'm okay. You don't have to worry about me." She smiled a little and allowed Garroth to continue his walk.

Garroth was not far from where he and his friends lived when he came across a cemetery and decided to take a detour through it. He walked beside the gravestones. He turned to his right and saw Laurence walking beside him. "What made you want to walk through here?" Laurence asked. Garroth shrugged, "I don't know. I was kind of just...walking."

They continued to walk in silence. "Why are you here?" Garroth asked Laurence. Laurence smiled and said, "Because you're here." The comment warmed Garroth's heart knowing it was true but not in the way he wanted it to be. "You aren't here willingly though...are you...?" Garroth said with a blank expression on his face. Laurence frowned, "Unfortunately, no. I wish I was here with you though." Garroth sighed before stopping before a gravestone which read, "Here lies Laurence Zvahl, who could not escape the demon within." Garroth let a warm smile appear on his face, "I wish you were here too..." Garroth slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out the same gun Laurence used to kill himself and the demon that possessed him to save Garroth and Zane. Garroth raised the gun to his head. "Since you are unable to be here, I'm coming to you." Tears started to stream from Garroth's eyes as he closed them and whispered,

"I love you, Laurence..."
