At a turtle's pace

As water droplets splattered her face

The honk of a passing car brought

The girl stood outside her home and in the rain

He hurled profanities at her
Calling her a 'slut'
She tried to escape
An eerie feeling in her gut
The girl sprinted upstairs

Not knowing she left behind a famished devil
Because now his eyes were dark
