Me and You Part 2 (Tony & Morgan Stark Poem)

-Endgame spoilers-

Of all the times you've cried for me,

I've feared this one the most.

For that time when you finally realize,

That I was never at your wedding to give a toast;

Or that I wasn't present, standing by your side,

Like a father's supposed to, when he gives away the bride.

-

Through this all, I can only see your face,

As it rots away in tears, burning away your happiness,

For all the time we've lost in years.

-

It pains me to see you, cutting away your woes;

Because I'm not sure if you'll be fine again,

How am I supposed to know?

-

So once again I find myself,

At a loss for words;

Because I know my absence blinds you,

And you fear you'll never be heard.

-

Although deep down you respect me, the loss is still too great

And even though you want to,

It's too difficult to appreciate.

-

Your mom provides you comfort, your uncles try as well;

But what do you really have,

When you're trapped inside this cell?

This dungeon, it caged you in, from such an early age, that

It made you unable to feel whole again,

Because the damage had already been made.

-

But realize that I love you, no matter who you turn out to be;

Because I am your father, and I know you'll be just like me.

Perhaps that's a bad thing, but then again perhaps not;

Because with this blood in your veins, you'll accomplish more than both me and you ever thought.
