“Don't underestimate demons, okay? Their way more dangerous than you think. You should be cautious around them and be aware of your surroundings. Also—” He stopped himself before he can continue. Even he knows that he sounds lame right now. It was still strange for him to have a apprentice. He's always preferred solitude.

The young lady in front of him simply nodded her head, with a smirk plastered on her face. She ignored most advice he gave to her. She was confident in her ability to slay demons. She's an assassin. One that's eliminated many difficult opponents.

Even Granger could notice she clearly wasn't listening. She was more focused on her rifle than him. In a way, he was more calm. Somehow, there's less pressure. Yet at the same time, he knows he's failing at being a mentor, really badly.

“If you don't want me to mentor you, then just say it,” he stated, coldly. At the very least, she shouldn't waste his time, blabbering about the safeties of being a demon hunter. He hissed softly, beneath his mask, “You're not forced to stay here and listen to me.”

Granger was already pissed at Alucard for bringing in someone who didn't even intend on learning the very basics. Let alone seem so confident despite not knowing anything, at all.

The sniper flinched slightly and sighed, “You don't have to lecture me on the basics. I know what I'm doing. Besides, Alucard said you'd take me out to go hunting, won't you?”

Somehow her eyes managed to glimmer once it met his gaze. Her piercing, determined look confused him. It may not have seemed like it but it actually did look like she wanted to become a demon hunter. Her gentle, amethyst eyes that shone in the light was convincing enough. Somehow.

“Okay then. I'll give you what you want. You want to go on a demon hunting expedition? I'll take you on one.” His eyes narrowed at her, almost like he was challenging her. “Don't say I didn't warn you,” he muttered as he crossed his arms.

Lesley nodded, unknown to her of the true terror of being a cold, ruthless hunter like him. As her violet eyes shone, almost like one of a angel's.

The piercing screech of a demon rang throughout the air, signals of the approaching danger for the two hunters. With the silence between them leaving its own euphony.

“I just wanted to ask about your—” She stopped herself before she could continue. Even she knew he wasn't fond of her. His cold gaze whenever their eyes lock. Perhaps it was because her eyes always drifted off to the obvious scar which she found to compliment his look well. It fits.

Granger nodded his head slightly. He already knew it was going to be a sort of private question but he was somehow opened to her. He knows he shouldn't be but it was her odd nature which sparked a curiosity.

His approval was subtle but she was still nervous on asking, whether it'd be out of his comfort zone is what worried her. “Your eye, Granger...” She stuttered slightly as she paused, rethinking carefully, “What happened to it?”

“Demons, the usual,” he shrugged and stared at her. He couldn't help but admire her eyes, the amount of emotions captured in them helped compliment her confusing persona. But then again, she might consider the same about him. Either confusing or odd, yes he is.

For a moment, she was completely still. Her expression motionless and her eyes holding their beauty. Stuck on words, she just nodded. As if she'd understand what it's like. A pitiful scar caused by a demon.

He stood in shock, she was beating them. Not that, she was destroying them. With that, she grew more and more confident in her skills. As per every bullet, a demon would be eliminated. Giving her saying ‘one shot, one kill’ literal meaning.

With every few kills, she'd turn back to him and give him a smirk and her eyes would glimmer against the light. Giving them a ‘angelic’ look. Amongst the demons stood a angel that'll destroy them as if it were the deities commencing their punishments.

It was difficult for him to stand at the sidelines and just simply watch. He knew all the demons would simply perish at the sound of his death sonata. The mere satisfaction of them fainting would bring about euphoria for him.

It was like playing the violin, his burning passion alongside slaying the evil spirits. With the growing amount of demons, he knew sooner or later her solo would become a duo even if she has yet to admit it but she needs him.

“Make it quick, Les!” He jumped into the mini battlefield that has spawned, carrying his violin case. His eyes scanning the surroundings, “We'll have to retreat soon!” He declared. It was like the demons had all gathered and formed a army.

He shook his head slightly, noticing her clear obliviousness. Still battling against them in her own world. Unaware of the obvious danger that was about to ensue. All he could do at the moment was save his own skin. Demons may not be the best fighters but their numbers can best most.

The death chanter called out to her, again. And then, all of a sudden, he was running towards her. Despite his usual nature of every hunter for themselves, he knew he had to save his apprentice. He wanted to save her.

It was definitely unlike him. The selfish, stubborn Granger willing to risk his life for someone else? Specially for a girl whom he didn't know well. Her cold, hostile nature towards him did strike a chord in him. And despite that, he felt like she could've been some sort of angel. Or was that too far-fetched, even for him?

Once her gaze landed on him, it was a silent melody that played. And so he performed his own song, one that'd hopefully bide enough time for them to escape. As the sniper could feel herself tiring out, the grip on her rifle slowly weakening with every pull of the trigger.

It started off, horrible, but that was the point. Soon, it went off in a continuous pitch. The terrible screeching of his violin piercing through the air. Melancholy, as usual.

For a moment, he was drifting off to his own world. His music somehow soothed him from this sorrowful world. That was until he was interrupted. He felt a light tap on his shoulder and instinctively he knew who it was.

“You—!” He muffled under his mask as he turned. For a brief moment, his eyes widened and under his mask, his mouth was agape.

Despite the gorified look she had, her injured eye couldn't help but glisten brightly, the violet color now highlighting itself. But the damage caused was questionable and worrying.

“W-what happened?” His own words were slurring, it's all becoming a blur currently to him. Her left eye showing signs of permanent injury. That lovely eye that told more than she could say. “I'm sorry, I shouldn't have—”

Her smile softened as she held the palm of his hand. Her eye slowly closing itself. All of a sudden, he was soft and weak. Her gentle, angel eyes captivating him, again.

This one-shot took way longer than planned as I kept switching between writing this one and two others but it was just a simple idea of how Lesley lost her eye. With the death chanter mourning over her loss and somehow falling for her, without knowing it. Yes, very weird. x3

I'll probably edit it someday. It's kinda rushed, sorry.
