It was almost like a date.
Keyword being almost. Since it wasn't considered a date at all, they were going to battle some malicious creatures apparently. Despite all this, it was the closest thing he was going to get for a date.
Even if he has to bare through Granger's constant rambling on all the basics of demon hunting. He may have been completely inexperienced but how difficult can it really be?
The assassin simply admired the death chanter's pure passion on this particular subject. Sure, he may not have been interested about it at all but if it makes his Granger happy then he wouldn't complain at all.
Or maybe he could've just asked him to go to a cafe or something simpler. Though he doubt that Granger would be ecstatic on going there. Not as much as he would be when he's out hunting.
But currently the biggest struggle for him is to resist grasping Granger's hand. He was so close.

"Okay, I need you to be careful. Like I said earlier, it will be tricky to kill these demons." Granger turned to him, raising a brow, "Though I know you'd be able to handle this, right? I've heard you have a really good battle prowess." He smiled underneath his collar, "Maybe even better than Alucard."
It was always a delight to hear Granger's voice. So much so that his heart would flutter over it. Specially with all the nice words he just stated. He'd always have a hunch that Granger would be a sweetheart underneath all that glorified, emo stuff he enjoys-
Gusion nodded, smiling widely, not even trying to hide it at this point, "You're rather talkative today." He pointed out.
Granger shrugged, "I'm excited. Demon hunting is a fun hobby of mine. Besides playing the violin. And I heard that this one uses demonic magic. Sounds like a fun challenge, right?"
The Paxley sneered and remarked back in a mocking, playful tone, "Never thought you'd find something fun. Specially with all your lame classical music."
It seemed to be a practical death wish to mock Granger's music. But Gusion Paxley has done it practically a million times and so far, he's not dead. Only receiving a few scratches and injuries though.
"Ha, ha. You're quite the jokester, Gusion Paxley," Granger gave his signature glare. That, in a silent way, is him saying that's the final warning.
Gusion nodded, his smile widening. Though he was also silently praying that he wouldn't wind up back at Rafaela's with a broken arm, again.
"I'll go left, okay?" Granger stated randomly, out of the blue, "We'll meet up in the middle once you finish dealing with your set of demons."
The Paxley tilted his head in confusion, "We're splitting up?"
The death chanter glared at Gusion, "Yes, didn't I just explain that?" He shook his head as he readied his weapon and started sprinting to the left, "I don't have time for this. Just be careful of the-"
"But-!" It wasn't long before Granger disappeared into the forest, his last few words seemingly faded before he was gone. All the Paxley could make up was that he should be careful of something. He sighed and mumbled to himself, "Don't leave me."
He readied his daggers as he started trekking through the opposing side of the forest. A thick mist seemingly formed and grew, the deeper he trudged through the forest. His eyebrows furrowed for a moment once he realized the mist was the only thing that clouded his vision.
